Why would Pirlo join Chelsea? What's in it for him? They'll kill him over and over again in England. The guy will not play the 2010 World Cup, that much is for sure.
He probably aspires to win another champions league trophy and knowing he certainly won't go very far with this Milan team, joining Chelsea doesn't seem like a very bad idea.

I don't know about fail or succeed but Chelsea don't need Pirlo.
I think Chelsea's only probalem last year was that they lacked in creativity going forward. They relied too much on Drogba overpowering his opponents to get the goals. A player like Pirlo, I think, would be perfect for their team.

I believe Pirlo will be flop in Chelsea and Chelsea actually don't need him. It just wasting money and wage budget. They already have Ballack, Essien, Mikel, Lampard, Deco

Chelsea never learn about doing business with Milan, look at Sheva. They bought him expensively, give him irrational wage and long contract, flop, and have hard time to sell him

The can bounce right back if they buy players like D'agostino, Fabiano, and say...Ribery or Cassano.

I think they can atleast sign D'agostino and Cassano, which should give them a little edge back.

by the way I bet Milan are kicking themselves hard now over giving Gourcuff away for a cheap amount after losing Kaka. They could have really used the kid
I doubt Milan could buy him as they need to pay big bucks for him as much as they sold Kaka and that would make no sense as they could have kepy Kaka in that case

As for Fabiano I think he is a poosability and the same goes for D`Ago after Pirlo move to Chelsea but even then D`Ago and Fabiano are not good enough to replace Kaka and Pirlo
D`Ago could be a good solution but Fabiano is nothing special just another attacker with Milan still lacking the Kaka type of player especially as they sold Gorcuff...

Presumably Ancelotti wants a deep lying playmaker in his system at Chelsea.

None of the players you mentioned could perform that role.

Mutu ordered to pay £14.5m
Friday 31 July, 2009
The Court of Arbitration for Sport has rejected an appeal made by Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu against an order to pay Chelsea £14.5m in damages.

The Blues sacked the Romania international in 2005 after he tested positive for cocaine.

FIFA instructed Mutu to pay the sum last summer, but he decided to take his case to sport's highest court.

“The Court of Arbitration for Sport has today dismissed the appeal filed by the Romanian football player, Adrian Mutu, against the decision rendered by the FIFA Dispute Resolution Chamber on May 7, 2008 in which he was order to pay €17,173,990 in compensation… for breach of contract,” a statement read.

Last year, Mutu said he was disgusted by the decision, which he called 'inhumane'.

He feels his offence does not warrant such a stiff sentence.

He will pay the fine for the rest of his life, i don't know his salary in Fiorentina but i'm sure it is not even 3mEuro because Fiorentina has salary maximum. or he can leave Fiorentina and look for better wage somewhere, hope that he can get Ibra, Kaka, CR, or Eto'o kind of contract
