I thought Fiorentina made a big mistake in trying to play normally instead of playing the conditions.

They should have made a big effort to get a second goal when they had the wind at their backs in the first half, instead they sat back and let Bayern keep the ball quite easily.

Fiorentina gave it a good go, but they were always going to struggle to hold on when they had to play against the wind in the second half when they had such a narrow advantage.

I also thought it was a huge mistake by Fiorentina for Van Bommel's goal. Three or four players went to Ribery and not one of them even made a challenge. When so many players are out of position, you must stop the attack, and they failed to do that, and Bayern took advantage.

Fiorentina were rather naive to twice allow Bayern to race up the pitch and score immediately after Fiorentina themselves had scored.

Width, width, width.

Football without width sucks. Width offers so many options.
I hate the fucking 4-3-1-2. Either play a 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 or anything with players who can cross. We have a team with 3 strikers who are strong in the air and we decided to play on the ground. No wonder we suck so much.

    who will Byern play next?
Come on man, it's not like it's your first year how you follow CL :)

There is always a draw for the quarterfinals. The draw will take place next Friday I think. Then we will know the quarterfinal pairs and the potential semifinal pairs.

Feck me what a performance, everybody was great today, even Niklas feckin Bentdner.

Arshavin and Nasri were just out of this world though, Nasri should never play on the flanks again, he's had two consecutive games where he's been brilliant now, he's just a different player centrally.

Only downside is, i'm going to go bankrupt. My early forecasts say, Arsenal winning is going to cost me 350-400 DHS, thats like 100-140 Euros. I shouldn't be so rash :sergio:

4-3-1-2 works with good fullbacks and classy players in midfield like Milan had. Lets not forget how they won the Champions League these years with that formation. We just can't seem to field it because we have retards in possession who pass the ball like football terrorists in Sissoko and Melo. Marchisio doesn't offer much inventiveness either.

Sali and DC on our flanks wouldn't provide us anything either.

Why are people writing off Inter's chances?

I'm not saying they will go through, but it certainly isn't as clear cut as some of you would suggest.

    Congrats Burkey.
Is there a draw next or you play Arsenal (or some other team)?

even then we had crappy wing play...let's get proper wingers first.
It wasn't crappy Ahmed. Both Gio and Camo did well, especially Camo who made 4 assists in a very short time with those tactics. Amauri also had his best matches in that formation, which isn't surprising.
And it wasn't so much about the formation being great as it was about the formation suiting our players. With a 4-3-1-2 we had to go from the middle and we lack players to do that. We lack wingback to offer width in that formation and we don't have enough movement and fast ball play to open the defenses.

But it has to be said that with Camo out, we didn't really have options to replace him and I doubt that the 4-2-3-1 would have worked so well.

For next year though, I'd like us to invest in wingers.
