Well, I might as well unveil the pun and the story behind it, if anyone cares.

While I was doing my internship at the EU, I was told this story that took place a few years back, about some Italian civil servants who had got the idea of holding an informal conference at which the Belgian press was invited.

The room however was full of phoney delegates with the most absurd names. Such as the Rumanian reprensentative for the Ministry of Enlargement, Mr Se Lupescu (which, in Italian sounds a lot like Mr "If I catch him"). Or the Japanese envoy, who was attending the meeting as an outside observer and went by the name of Mr Motumori ( i.e. Mr "You're going to die now"). Or indeed the stiff upper lip Spanish diplomat presiding over the debates, Mrs Esperanza d'Escobar (translation : Mrs "Hope to shag").

The Belgians of course took this very seriously, and the next day an article about the conference was published in the main national newspaper.

Now, EU civil servants might be lazy and overpaid, but whoever said that they were boring?
    Choice. :D

    Indeed, but this is Italian..

Scopare = to sweep, but also to have sexual intercourse (a colloquial and not very delicate expression).

Speranza di scopare = hope to shag, hence : Mrs Esperanza d'Escobar. Capito?
