The Viola have turned the Artemio Franchi into a fortress this season, gaining 24 of their overall total of 32 points in Florence. These have come courtesy of seven victories, three draws and three defeats.

Fiorentina got their home campaign underway with a 2-0 derby success over Bologna. Gilardino and Cerci were on target for the hosts. Mihajlovic’s men then went one better against Parma, with Cerci adding to Jovetic’s double to secure a 3-0 victory.

Lazio were next up at the Artemio Franchi and returned to the capital with all three points after Hernanes and Klose overturned Cerci’s opener.

Jovetic was back among the goals in the Viola’s next home encounter against Catania, but the Montenegrin striker’s double proved not to be enough as the visitors earned a draw.

Fiorentina then began to enjoy better fortunes at home starting with a narrow success over Genoa, sealed through Lazzari’s winner towards the end of the first half. The win, however, was not enough to grant Sinisa Mihajlovic a longer stay of execution, with a 1-0 defeat in Chievo proving to be the final straw for the Viola board.

Delio Rossi stepped into the hot seat and oversaw a 0-0 draw against Milan, a 3-0 win over Roma (Jovetic, Gamberini and Santiago Silva) and a thrilling 2-2 draw against Atalanta in which three of the four goals arrived in the closing stages.

The year drew to a close with Di Michele’s penalty handing Lecce a surprise 1-0 triumph at the Artemio Franchi. Following various rescheduled fixtures, the calendar saw the Viola enjoy a run of three successive home games in mid-January. Two of these ended in victory: 2-1 against Siena and 3-2. Napoli, however, prevented Rossi’s men from making it three in a row when Cavani’s double put the Azzurri on their way to a resounding 3-0 win.

The Tuscan side secured their last home victory at the beginning of March as Moras’ own goal and a strike from Nastasic saw off the threat of Cesena.
