Fiore completes Mantova move
Thursday 23 August, 2007
Ex-Azzurri midfield star Stefano Fiore has completed a move to Serie B outfit Mantova.

The 32-year-old revealed he would leave Spanish side Valencia earlier this summer after a miserable spell at the Mestalla.

Fiore spent the last two years on loan at Fiorentina, Torino and Livorno, but despite impressing in the Viola’s superb 2005-06 campaign he couldn’t secure a permanent move back to Italy.

After mounting speculation surrounding his future, the Cosenza native has agreed to drop down to the Cadetti to rejuvenate his career.

Fiore has signed a one-year contract with the Virgiliani and has the option of a two-year extension if the Biancorossi are promoted to the top flight.

He will now rescind his contract with Valencia and meet his teammates at training on Thursday afternoon when he will be unveiled at the Stadio Martelli.

Mantova season ticket sales are up to a club record of 5,800 ahead of the season opener against Ravenna on Saturday.

What a decline. He was one of the best midfielders in Serie A while playing in Lazio. Should never have moved in first place. In other words, a copy of Verón.
