Bad bad transfer campaign. Nevermind Zlatan and Miccoli for a moment.
DEFENCE!
Look at our central defence right now. We only brought Cannavaro, he was great in his day. He plays fine for Italy still, but he was very unsettled for Inter and has been injured the entire summer. He was a great buy considering the price and i'm confident he'll do well, he isn't injury free though anymore.
Thuram, had an awfull season last year. Made one (almost) comical blunder after the other. People (me included) were talking about if it wasn't better to sell him at least we'd gain money. Now though everyone is talking wow great defence etc. ... why the change of thoughts? Has Thuram done anything in the ec04 of pre-season that i've missed?!
Furthermore you have the old-guard consisting of Ferrara(impressive, but impressive for his age that's all), Montero (who lost his tactical judgement and all he does is hack away), Iuliano (arguebly the biggest scapegoat of last season).
Than you have Leggrotaglie, he was great for Chievo. Somehow thoug he lost his brain when he came to Juve and never found it back... he became worse than our old guard. Someitmes he had a good game, but he always made that critical error which would cost us dearly.
Tudor, talented and great in his day. Due to all the well-known injury problems he has lost that talent imo and he always was slow. He missed years of experience and devoloping through his injuries and lack of fitness. I hope dearly for him to return to the 2000 Tudor, it is just wishfull thinking though.
So you see, when Cannavaro (who himself isn't a guarantee of succes) we have to call upon the mindless Leggro, the old-guard or an unfit Tudor.
Don't be surprised if we lose 4-0 against Fiorentina or Inter this yeah. In the berlusconi trophy we might've won without a conceding a goal, did you guys see though all the holes in our defence, the only thing that saved us were the bad finishing of namely Kaka and Serginho. We won't have that luck again.
So we now have reliant defence full of holes.
The thing that pisses me off the most about this is that the 15- 20 million euros spend for Zlatan could've easily solved this problem !
And that's all I've got to say about that.

Maresca, Chiellini and Miccoli will come back, nevermind about them, and to be honest, Zlatan is by far better as Miccoli. Really, what should have Moggi done, to make you happy? Again, i love Enzo style, but Emerson is at the peak of his carreer and a will become a point of reference for the team...just the right size for Davids shoes.
Conte- Kapo
Antonio was useles this last season, and Kapo could become a valuable player, being able to play in the middle or upfront...
Cannavaro and Zebina come as reinforcement of the defense, that was too shaky last season...
We sell Divaio and are one forward short, but in an emergency, Olivera can play forward...
All togheter, it sounds like the team has enough Quantity and Quality to keep the pace of the CL and Serie A...

overall, i dont think its been a great transfer campaign by moggi.
emerson came in, but maresca and lets not forget davids came out this summer. conte has left while blasi has joined but brighi was sold outright as well.
miccoli sold and zlatan joined while zalayeta, a useless striker was kept.
i just dont understand what was going on in moggi and capello's mind.

Moggi changed nearly the half of the last seasons starting eleven.
Zebina, Cannavaro, Emerson, Blasi, Zlatan and seemingly Oliveira too can be considered as first choice. Canna seems to me the most reliable solution, Zebina will be ok, Emerson is the best cm in serie-a, Blasi is very convinceing so far, as Capello's other favourit: Oliveira, both bright prospect of the future. Capturing Zlatan as Trezequet stayed what a signing! Zlatan, Trez, DP working in any combination :
DP-Trez (usual), DP-Zlatan (sooo creative, still a danger in the air), Zlatan-Trez (immense arial threat, still quite creative)
its hard to describe how much potential this three has.
Chiellini will be back next season, I'm sure.

I loved the signings of
emerson- very capable mid who has a brilliant all round game
zebina- not too old, not too expensive wage, has worked well with Capello and free transfer
kapo- adds attacking flair that we desperatley need and free transfer
cannavaro- was equally as brilliant as emerson transfer

This transferperiod is IMO not got. Allright, Cannavaro and Emerson are great buys but Di Viao and Miccoli are out. These two guys are the future for Juve and Italian football. I live in Amsterdam and often see Zlatan play on TV. IMO DV is much better than Zlatan. Zlatan always waits and DV is a hard worker what is also important. And where the hell are Oddo and Jankulovski? These 2 players where almost confirmed and Moggi did nothing to get them. With the 16 million we spend on Zlatan we can also buy Oddo, Janku and maybe an Inzaghi or Giannichedda. That would be awesome. No, they spent 16 million on a bench player. Common, you've got Trezeguet who has a new contrat and now they buy a replacement for him. IMO, they must keep Miccoli and Di Viao, buys Oddo, Janku (remember, the problem was defence!!!! and Inzagi or another cheap but good striker). Sell Zalayeta and you've got a very strong attack, a good defence with many functions and a strong midfield. Sorry, but I'm very angry about these things and I would like to know, what you're opinions are about this. Still, Forza Juve.
EDIT: o, and I forget the people who are offloaned. Yes, we also offloan Maresca and Miccoli. Why not? Common, these guys are the future. And now we have Kapo. Look: Miccoli asked to go on loan, as he knew that he won't have as many chances to play as Zlatan. It doesn't matter, who is better of the two guys, they are both great, but Zlatan can replace DP AND Trezeguet. Miccoli can't, thats why he wanted to go on co-ownership, and having Zlatan AND Miccoli in the squad would be too much, thats why its good to have Zalayeta as a backup. Olivera and Kapo can also play in attack.

I dare anyone on this board to prove to me who did a better campaign than Juventus...simply great, Moggi made the reinforcements needed in all parts of the field....
Capello I do not rate him better than Lippi, but a new coach with the same caliber is a better coach as he sees other things in players the previous coach cannot do

Oh come on, he's had one season, and it was the worst season that we've had in years for any player to prove himself. I agree that he would've had trouble competing with Zlatan and Del Piero, but to make a judgment of him based on last season is unfair IMO, same goes for Appiah and Legrottaglie.
