Not a bad idea, but I doubt we can sell Thuram! He is above 30 and didn't have the best season. I think, Lilian will come back next season to his best form. IMO he would be the best partner for Mexes, who doesn't speak one word italian, and is still very young! Lilian could help him more than Ferrari, who couldn't even communicate that good with Mexes. Ferrari is a good player, but I would buy Mexes for a low price, sell Trezeguet (but only if we can get a good replacement) and get Puyol from Barca for free. Add Parisi instead of Pessotto, and you have my team.
Thats the cheapest and IMO best option. Then we have:

Puyol - Thuram - Mexes - Zambrotta
Birindelli - Ferrara - Legrottaglie - Parisi

+ Iuliano or Montero. One of them has to leave!
Puyol is out of the question, as is Mexes. Thuram will stay and he'll play central defence. We'lll probably end up with somebody you've never heard of playing right back, and Ferrari with Thuram in central defence.

Ferrari gears up for exit
Wednesday 31 March, 2004

Parma captain Matteo Ferrari has put himself on the transfer market given the uncertain future of the club.

The Gialloblu are looking for a new owner after major backers Parmalat pulled out earlier this season, following their financial collapse.

That has led to reports that a host of the outfit’s best players are to be sold and Ferrari is hoping to be one of them.

"It’s getting tough at Parma," said the 25-year-old, who should play against Portugal this evening.

"We are going through some very difficult times and we don’t even know for sure whether the club will survive.

"Given the situation, I would be happy if another club comes forward to sign me."

Ferrari was heavily linked with a January move to Juventus but no agreement could be reached between the two sides.

The Bianconeri are set to renew their interest at the end of the season but they do have a number of other defensive options.

Another player that is definitely set to leave Parma is goalkeeper Sebastien Frey. "At this moment in time a move to Arsenal is most likely," revealed his agent Vincenzo Morabito.

There have been reports that Inter may also be interested but Morabito claimed that the player would probably leave Italy.

Why're you so confident that Mexes is going to Arsenal?

I'm not. I'm just absolutely positive that he's not coming to Juve.
I'll archive that one, hopefully for humorous future reference :)

Why in the hell he wouldn't come to Juve. He knows that Juve is a home away from home for French players. Can you name a French player who has not succeeded for Juve? Well, besides David Trezeguet!

If he is smart he will come to Juve, not to the stupid great team wannabes named Arsenal. They suck.

Yea, me too! I hate Arsenal! They think they are so good, like they are on par with Juve or Real. But in actuality they have never even made it to the semifinals of the European Cup! Like I said, they are just big club wannabes that I hope will go into major debt after they build their "great new stadium".

Just a feeling? or something else you care to share? :D

Puyol will only leave Barca if they were in financial problems, and they arent any more so talk about someone else. They have a lot of money to buy players with, and will be buying a defender or 2 also. Competition from them, Man Utd, and Chelsea for good defenders.

There has been no connection between Mexes and Juve. Mexes has said many times that he wants to go to England and has never mentioned Italy or Juventus. Furthermore, Moggi has a very annoying tendency to buy players from Italy.

I think he did mention Juve at some point a few months ago, but perhaps Im thinking of someone else.

Moggi does like Italians, just as the other Italian clubs do. He also said French players were good when he praised Arsenal's season, and said he would look more to France for players.

Conclusion? Moggi doesn't let anyone know what he thinks. :D

I don't care what Moggi thinks. If you look at his transfer activities in the past, he is much more likely to purchase players from Italy (not necessarily Italians), than he is to buy players from abroad.

But that is smart, as its likely that a player in Serie A will do better than the same quality of player from a different league.

For every player like Kaka, there are probably 10 or 20 that fail to rise up the the new challenge.

both of them should leave.. if you ask me..

about ferrari.. it'll will be great to have him.. this deal is the closest to reality..

trez to barca in exchange with Puyol-- I don't know, but moggi insisted in more than one occasion that trez won't leave the club.. I can't see it happenning also, becoz poyul seems unsellable, barca could offer another player, but moggi would be dump to accept that..

mexes-- all we hear about him are wild rumors.. would be great if he comes though, but I don't think so.. only if auxerre go on with their "buy one and get one free" attitude..

It's quite sad to hear him say those things about Parma's situation, it seems worse than I expected

On the other hand, lets get Ferrari! I'm pretty sure we'll get him, and I like the way he plays, it's all good! :D
