Yeah, seeing as he was kinda unproven 20 might seem like a lot but it's turning out to be great. He's a superstar in the making.

Getting Pastore for 5m is great.

Getting Lamela for ~20m is a significant gamble and unlikely to prove to be a bargain unless he becomes a really exceptional player.

How is it a great move in hindsight? :confused:

He's a talented player and all, but his selfishness and poor decision making at times, makes one wonder, will he be another Zarate? Don't forget how promising Zarate looked in his first two years with Lazio.

It still remains to be seen how Lamela will develop and whether or not he will justify his price tag, as of yet, he's not even close

He's much better than Zarate, but yeah he could get better. Maybe it's too soon to say anything but he's showing all the right signs.

I don't know if he will develop into a better player than Zarate, he might, as Zarate turned out to be quite the shitty player :D
But are you saying that he is having a more impressive debut season than Zarate? If thats what your saying, i'd be inclined to suggest you have the memory of a goldfish.

That's not what I said, I meant he's of higher quality. Zarate having a better debut season doesn't mean anything, everyone could have streaks of hot form like that.

You say that in hindsight, half the people who follow Serie A used to drool on Zarate, you weren't on here at the time when he was ripping teams apart, so i don't know what your opinion of him was :p

The point i'm trying to make is that Lamela showing glimpses of quality does not necessarily mean he will go on and justify his hefty price tag, as others before him have showed similar glimpses of quality.

Alright, I wasn't following Zarate back then so I don't have anything to really say about the subject. I'll just say you may proven be right as time passes but you need to know that my talent recognizing abilities are pretty spot on.

I didn't say he wasn't going to turn into a good player that will go on to justify his price tag, just saying that he really hasn't shown that he will justify his price tag anytime soon, as glimpses of quality aren't enough so long as he doesnt show some form of consistency.

From whoscored.com, Aguero: 33(9) apps, 24 goals, 5 assists; but whoscored.com only recorded his assist in EPL and UCL so it could be more. For UCL and EPL only, his stats are 27(9)-18-5.
