I think the goal was the cherry on top of the cake. He linked up with the rest of the team superbly, got the mids involved, opened up play. He was great, can't wait to see more.
Whenever I had seen him at Bilbao, that part of his game was what impressed me the most. Yeah, he scores quite a bit, but the way he holds up the ball and bringing the others into play around him is very underrated imo.

That's why I always rated him apart from his goal scoring abilities.

Its obvious Llorente needs more chances.

I think all that talk about him not being ready was not too far off. At times looked out of breath and rusty... but the workrate and hunger was there...and when he did his thing he did it well. Im pleased with his performance and sooo happy for him.

when he scored tweeetr exploded

You can see his size makes him useful at all times. Headers and holding up the ball are always on for him. He seems a bit shy though, opting for quick safe passes, usually backwards. A couple times I thought he could have turned and motioned towards goal but his hesitation is understandable as it was his first start.

I think his reliability as a target man will only help Tevez and others because he seems like his decisions will always be consistent unlike Vucinic who requires an extreme understanding because of his sporadic and sometimes genius touches.

Keeping him out against Copenhagen was a big mistake. We could see all he needs is one good ball and he can find the net with his head, which is always always a useful trait.

He has a very nice touch for someone in his position. Very few players in the world can boast the same. He draws players in and knows how to link up perfectly with players moving around him. He's a poacher with vision. I'm sure that with more space he'll be much more dangerous too.

Specially for us which sometimes go full crosses mode for now reason
But not just that. Tevez had loads of touches inside the box today because of the space Llorente makes. We set up alot with the ball on the corner of the box so we can play short balls or crosses. Without Llorente, defenders are anticipating short balls into tight spaces. They don't have to mark Mirko as close as Llorente. Llorente demands marking from the front and the back unlike Mirko or even most #9s.

So when we have the ball in our usual area in attack, the CBs cannot charge out and close down. Even look at the goal. Llorente was well marked, but only by one man. If you get the ball high enough, he can put it home. He demands double marking, which Mirko doesn't.

Anyone who has played CB would see Llorente's inclusion in our team as a nightmare. The cross is always on for us from anywhere on the pitch. Pogba, Pirlo and Vidal are especially good at crossing and they're our CMs so it's really tricky for a CB.

You don't bench Llorente, you simply don't.

I see a bit of Trezeguet in him and a bit of Del Piero in Tevez, of course they're not as good as Dp-Tez but they're great and must play together.

agree... tevez is a true number 10 which linnks up with midfield and wingers whereas llorente is a goal hunger machine...always trying to cause trouble for the defence.

So he wasn't fit to come on for 20 minutes just four days ago, but now he's fit enough to score and play 3/4 of a game. Makes sense Conte
I think he was ready to play at least 45 minutes even against Sampdoria, but being ready to play and being ready to contribute to team's result is two different things. Conte made a smart move by not letting him play until he's 100% ready, because the media would have slaughtered both Llorente and Conte and now they can go fuck themselves, because he proved to everyone that he's a good player. Now that Llorente is full of confidence and team is supporting him, we can expect great things from him. Forza Nando! :weee:
