Really? I see Gio/Vucinic as perfect SS upfront next to Llorente. It's just playing two SS like tonight that I'm not a big fan of.

You never know though, we could go full retard and try to sign fancy dribbler, flashy, SS's like Caracciolo, Maccarone or Tiribocchi.

I think getting him in July was the best and only scenario available to us imo. Bilbao were holding firm on not letting him be sold unless the release clause was met, which nobody was prepared to do given that he's barely featured in the first half of the season. The fact that we laid the foundations for a potential move last Summer means the player is aware of how much we want him, therefore making it less likely for him to sign for another club. Ultimately the €4 million per season is gonna be a huge deciding factor too.

All in all, good business, we get a great striker for free, not many deals like that going on anywhere else especially in this market.

This is probably why we have to keep bugging Atletic Bilbao now even though a deal is not possible. After all Llorente hasn't signed for us yet.

Nah, just a president looking out for his own interest.
if that was true then he'd sold him at the start from the season

ladies please, you dont demand the fullbuyout on a player in the final year of his contract. it would mean he'd cost more then rvp.

20 mil was allready alot.

now the president got a player that was useless due to circumstances, while costing them plenty, and missing the full fee we'd have payd in august

That would be the case if they actually needed the money. They are probably one of Spain's best runned clubs and they are in a solid financial position.

For them, it's more important to send out a message: Either pay the release clause, or don't be interested in our players.

I don't know if I'm alone here, but I don't see Vucinic and Llorente as an effective pairing. You'd need the full backs pushed high up the pitch consistently and a midfielder to continuously run beyond the front 2, otherwise opponents will keep a high line and squeeze the game.
Would be interested in seeing how a Giovinco and Llorente partnership would work though.

Whatever, we win in both situations.

Getting Llorente without spending a dime on a transfer fee sounds fantastic.

However sending in a last minute cheeky bid could serve us well for the second half of the season and the CL.

We're in a good predicament IMO.

No deal then.

Asking for the buyout-clause is mere insanity. That's like me asking for $3,000 for my 5-year old TV. Its just not going to happen, the guy needs to wake up.

Whatever his loss when we get him for free in the summer.
deal
