Juve accelerate bid for Gago
Tuesday 15 December, 2009
Juventus are reportedly stepping up their bid to loan Argentinian midfielder Fernando Gago from Real Madrid.

The Bianconeri are down in the doldrums at the moment after a run of two straight defeats in all competitions.

However, things could get worse if they don't act in the transfer market, especially in midfield.

Juventus lost Mauro Camoranesi for three months on Saturday and will also be without Mali international Momo Sissoko as he flies to Angola for the African Cup of Nations in January.

Desperate to maintain their shape with three holding midfielders in a 4-3-1-2, the Bianconeri want an alternative to Felipe Melo, Tiago and Christian Poulsen.

Juventus already focused their efforts on Gago in the summer before agreeing an £18.5m transfer for Melo with Fiorentina.

Alessio Secco, the club's director of sport, apparently flew to Madrid for negotiations.

Juventus face competition from Everton for the 23-year-old, but it's believed the player, who has an Italian passport, would favour a move to the peninsula at least on loan.

Good or bad news???? Any Gago experts around? I know little of the player, but we do need some additions to the midfield with both Momo and Camo absent for a while, and the current charges far from enjoying even a semblance of form...

If he prefers Everton to us, then...well...we have fallen further down in reputation than I had feared...much further.

Loans make more sense right now as any player with real quality who comes to us, becomes soon drained of all their abilities APART from if they come on loan, like Caceres...who has definitely appeared to improve over the last month, when the team as a whole (other than chiellini and Billy Buffon) have been deteriorating.

    Or he's just an idiot.

    I wouldn't like him here.
Agreed, Salvatore...such a snub would be an insult as well as a sure sign of the Gago's lack of intelligence.

I'm just wondering if he is a player to get excited about. Especially...if he is a man who could potentially lead a team, out of the darkness, into the light and true frenzy of battle and hopefully glory?

Carlos was certainly lacking...ummm..enthusiasm...shall we say...but what of others? I don't want la liga, and know little of the player other than his name. Which strikes me as worth investigating. Momo, Melo, Gago. He would allow us, when momo is fit, and if Melo hasn't been executed by then, to field a trident of 4 letter names ending in O.

Lightweight and fragile player. Inconsistent, lots of promise but never even close to reaching his potential.

He would be a huge risk, i wouldn't go near him.

well my excitement has dulled. but i should thank you all for not allowing me to get too deep into my fantasies...I guess the next question would be then: IS there likely to be any truth to this news? I hadn't even pondered us going for any central midfielders during the transfer window. Only a centre back, maybe left back, and at best a striker, with amauri leaving.

Therefore, he will be a Juventus player in January; our scouts adore this kind.

    Congratulations guys.

He was something to get excited about. Now he's not really anything I'd want for reserve, seeing the options we have. We may as well spend money if we want yet another central midfielder.

That description doesn't remotely match what I'd associate with Gago by the way.

This guy can pass the ball pretty good, right? Maybe he could act as our new deep lying playmaker instead of D'Ago.

first, good thing you changed your username :p

though like sal pointed out, that description doesnt quite match what gago is, the haters are being a bit too harsh on him he wasnt too bad last year and this year his confidence was practically shattered by the alonso purchase. I still personally think hes got a lot to offer.

Looks too much like a neighborhood child molester to me. So having him share a locker room with Giovinco sounds like trouble. :shifty:

I thought changing my username would cut out my near consistent need to fend off squeals from latent homosexual gimps...

As to my description, it was a question, mate...not what I thought for a second was what I felt gago would fit. More a hope.

A leader is what we need. From what i am reading, Gago ain't that man...though watching the youtube video of him showed that he can tackle and pass. Indeed some of his tackles were beautiful, taking man and ball with ease. But I am more interested in opinions of fans who know him, rather than videos.

Yeah what happened to him? 2 years ago he was a rising star and now he's no different from Tiago
That's what Real Madrid does to a player.

:agree: Good phisique, agressive tackler, good passer. He'll be a better replacement for Tiago.

But first, let's sell Tiago. And if the price is right, why not?

Yeah, I don't like the sound of an Amber Alert for Giovinco at all.
