Melo: Juve can win everything
Wednesday 22 July, 2009
Felipe Melo introduced himself to the Juventus fans by pledging to “win everything there is to win at one of the most important clubs in the world.”

The Brazilian completed his £21.5m move from Fiorentina this month and some considered him a traitor for joining their arch-rivals.

“I did what I had to in Florence and if they sold me for that sum, then I must’ve done something right,” said the midfielder.

“I am sorry about the Fiorentina fans who reacted badly, but now I hope to confirm my status in one of the most important clubs in the world.”

Melo impressed at the Confederations Cup and hopes to be a part of the 2010 World Cup squad, following in the footsteps of Carlos Dunga and Emerson.

“For now I must focus on my club, as the higher I take Juventus, the more likely it is I’ll be called by the Selecao.

“I’m a long way off Dunga and Emerson now, but I have just arrived in a top club and when I have won some silverware then I can mention them in the same breath.

“We have to be like a big family at Juve and I am here to be a part of it. I have played against Diego many times and it will be fun to be his teammate for once,” he said of his fellow Brazilian.

The Scudetto is the primary target, especially if Inter sell Zlatan Ibrahimovic to Barcelona in exchange for Samuel Eto’o.

“Inter are very strong, with or without Ibrahimovic, even if I consider him to be stronger than Eto’o. We must focus only on ourselves and prove it through our work.

“I came to Juve because here I can win everything there is to win.”
