I'm so disappointed with Melo so far... not that he is playing badly but I had a very high hopes for him.
Same, I really wanted to have him and Sissoko form a solid barrier in front of our defense. He does very well defensively but then tries to dribble forward or hold the ball up to direct play forward and look for a long pass. Once he gets the ball he needs to play the simple pass instead of over doing it. If Ferrara continues to play a 4-3-1-2 than in January our top priority should be a CM who can play as deep lying playmaker and will take the passing responsibility off of Melo and Sissoko. I'm thinking a player who is adjusted to Serie A, somebody such as D'agostino or Inler. This would also take pressure off Diego who constantly has to drop deep to pickup the ball so he can link it to the forwards.

most mistakes occur when players are fatigued, so saying that Melo being worn out is not a genuine reason, well, that's just plain wrong...the guy said himself a few days ago that he was feeling the pinch
If that's happening in the first half, we're in a LOT of trouble, because that's just pathetic. And I don't believe it because his fuckups are usually first half, while against Roma he went 40 yards to score 80 minutes in. Something doesn't add up here.

Also, recently, Melo has gotten better as the game has went on.

I don't think the fatigue (if he is fatigued) is affecting him physically.

More likely it is contributing to his one major mental error per game.

Marchisio is a box-to-box midfielder too, while Tiago whined during Ranieri days that he's anchored to defensive midfield and doesn't have the freedom to go forward.
Let's get rid of him or Poulsen and try again for D'Agostino, he'll be one year older next summer and his contract will be one year shorter, should be cheaper than last time.

Melo could be a fantastic box-to-box player for us. Shame we have no one for the holding role. Marchisio?
marchisio is better than melo in that role imo...i saw the last matches and melo's starting atacks or counter attacks were awful. Claudio showed us that he has that potential.
