I haven't really seen Mascherano that often but isn't he a Sissoko/Poulsen type of player? A physical player in the middle?

He's more intelligent, more composed and more tactically and positionally aware than Sissoko. He's an excellent tackler and really good reader of the game, his passing isn't too shabby either. He's not a good passer of the ball but he can make simple sideway passes unlike Sissoko. Despite not being very consistent this season, in general and in terms of ability he is definitely one of the best defensive minded midfielders in Europe.

If we get Masch over here then this would be the second time Sissoko gets benched for Masch. Poor Momo, Masch would really be his nemesis.
