Yes the 4-2-3-1 is far more logical:

Buffon/Mannigher

Zebina/new RB - Canna-Chiellini DC

Sissoko - - - Melo

Camo - - Diego - Giovinco/DP

Amauri/Treze

Marchisio and Giovinco cannot be fit in the same formation as starters!
But having more options and roles to share, would increase their chances to get more playing time and fit in well!

good post...i have the same thought. In a way i am glad that we have gio and diego, 2 creative brains but with only one striker, i have some doubts. I really would sacrifice one of them for the dp factor. Anyways i can't wait to see juve's pre season friendlies and there we shall see what does our coach choose.
Smart minds think alike

The thing is, Giovinco can play as a forward and a trequartista/attacking mid. So when Diego/DP is going to rest/isnt fit, he'll take over. Being a backup for 2 positions will surely give him decent amount of chances to play. He could also start in the cup or something.

So I stand by my point and believe 4-3-1-2 would work great with our team (apart from the defence, but they got the help of the stable midfield).

And when is that going to happen? When he is 25 or a few games in the Coppa Italia? Give it up guys, every fan in the world is envious of our Giovinco and a few of you still think he shouldn't play.

I love the idea of the 4-2-3-1, I think it is by far the best formation we have. I am ecstatic at the aquisition of Melo, Our midfield is incredible. I would say we now have the best midfield in Italy in terms of talent and depth.

As for the formation, playing Giovinco-Diego-Camo together is fantastic for creativity and attacking strength although there are a few question marks when it comes to this formation.

Not using both strikers is in my opinion a big blow to our attack, any striking combination out of the possible four is likely to striker fear into any of our opponents. By playing with a lone striker upfront, our attacking power decreases marginally. We would have three world class strikers on the bench and there is no doubt we would be wasting some superb striking power. Furthermore, Del piero cannot play in such a formation.

However, if we sell Trezeguet and replace him with a RB or LB or even both, I would change my stance completely. We would be sacrficing an ageing Del piero for potentially the most dangerous midfield in Italy, it is a gamble I am definitely willing to take. And with Trez gone, we aren't really wasting too much talent. IQ can be Amauri's substitute and we can occasionally switch formations to a 4-3-1-2 to play Del piero. We woud have greater variety and versaitility in choosing formations thus making us supremely unpredictable.

The best formation if we eventually sell Trez and buy Say Santacroce and Grosso.

    -------Buffon----------

    Santa--Canna--Chiell---Grosso

    ---------Melo----------------
    -----------------Sissoko---------

    Camo-------Diego---------Gio---

    ---------------Amauri-----------

    Zebina-Canna-Chiellini-DC
    Melo-Sissoko
    Camo-Diego-Giovinco
    Amauri

this is probably the best formation for us unfortunately it means Marchisio as a sub but he would add depth and could be our super midfield sub
playing with both Diego and Giovinco would be awesome but at the other hand we don`t have many players who could replace them if they get injured
and there is another problem DP he would defenitely play which means the formation is not top priority (altough he could take Giovinco`s place and Giovinco could be our super sub to Diego or DP and eventually take DP`s role)
also I think that Melo and Sissoko could provide great cover for our mid and make us a lot more solid

    Buffon
    Zebina-Canna-Chiellini-DC
    Marchisio-Melo-Sissoko
    Diego
    Amauri-Trez

this formation is the most probable altough I`m unsure wether our trio would be Marchisio Melo and Sissoko while we also have Camo
about the attack Amauri is probably going to be a starter unless Trez shows what he can do more often or unless Iaquinta improves his finishing skill BUT the partner for Amauri would defenitely going to be a support striker (our captain DP)

    Buffon
    Zebina-Canna-Chiellini-DC
    Marchisio-Melo-Sissoko
    Diego-Giovinco
    Amauri

Its not a bad formation but I somehow don`t think we are going to see that formation at all

Also about all the formations Molinaro is likely to start instead of DC unless we buy a new LB

I think he should play but evidentally some others are opposed to it. Sorry DP fans, this season we should start seeing gio get more time and DP less. I love DP just not as much as some of the peeps here. Sooner or later gio needs to take his place

Even if we play with 1 striker we finally have a midfield that can score their own goals again and that will take the place of the second striker. Our offense is fucking awesome this year and we have the muscle behind them to support it. Diego and Gio have got to play, at least try them together in preseason to see how they combine. It would be scandalous if we didn't at least try them together.
