When people ask me my nationality, I tell them that I'm Italian-American. I am no less Italian than anyone who was born in the Old Country. I am also very proud to have been born in the USA, and very proud of my country. However, the only TRUE americans are the american Indians, since they were here first.
You mean like Apu? ;)

Ehm.. Rio? You're talking in riddles :D
If that's addressed to me, no, it's "an unnamed Eircom League Player". Just enter: "Eircom League" Drug "Shamrock Rovers"
into Google and see what happens. :D

Oh, and I'm sad to see Tux disappear from your avatar. He rocked!

kova : i wish him all the best

pippo : mixed feelings. it was the saddest moment when he left juve. i wish him all the best, but as long as milan doesn't beat juve to anything (unfortunately that did happen)

zizou : i hated him for leaving juve, but hey, without his money there'd be no buffon or nedved, so i guess its ok. i still kinda wish hes in juve tho.....

just for the rec, heres pippo's comment on his transfer to milan:

"but it comes down to where u need new motivations. i repeat, this transfer is good for everyone, for the 2 teams, for me and for david trezeguet. im 28, hes 24, the future belongs to him. but let me say that its not gonna be easy for him to score as many goals as i did!"

i memorized the whole damned thing

I don't blame Pippo for leaving us .. afterall Juve wanted him to go in order to give the chance to Trezeguet .. any other player (for example Ronaldo) wouldn't stop bashing us for that, but Pippo took it lightly and understood the situation, and I respect him for that ..

Kovacevic also left to get his football career straight and continue what he likes doing best, playing football regularly .. you can't possibly blame a player for that .. so yes, I still respect him and wish him the best of luck in Soceidad as long as he doesn't face us :D

Zizou wanted to leave us .. he asked for the transfer and even threatened to leave as a free agent if we didn't let him achieve his dream and play for Real !! But I feel nothing for him now .. Niente .. I don't celebrate his goals and don't feel happy for him .. he became just another player wearing that 'royal' shirt !!

I hope the best for the other players who couldn't cut it here in Juve like: Baiocco, Paramatti, Salas, Amoruso, Carini, Van der Sar, Athirson , O'Neill, Moretti and Zenoni .. because they tried their best during their stay in Turin but for one reason or another things just didn't quit work out for them ..

Beckham is a hard-working, talented player I like and admire, though not to the extent his fans would like. Beckham is a decent, simple person I find difficult to dislike. Beckham is a media-creation/celebrity I dispise.

Basically, he's been built up and cast down by the British media at will. After France 98, Beckham was England's scapegoat, booed at away venues, made out to be a petulent little twat. Phil Neville took on that role for Euro 2000, but I do remember Beckham, walking off after a match (possibly Romania, maybe Germany in the WC qualifiers), giving the finger to the crowd. Why? Some of them had been shouting things at him that no guy should have to hear. About his wife, his kids. Threats, slurs, just plain abuse. He's a national hat figure.

Then, when Shearer, the media's beloved "England Captain", a new hero had to emege for the papers to drool over. Beckham was given the captaincy, and he hauled England to the WC by sheer sweat and blood. Against Greece, he ran his legs off, covering the whole midfield, as Scholes, Gerrard and Barmby(?) went missing. He even got the fairytale ending of scoring the necessary goal in the dying minutes of the game.

So Beckham, this media icon, emerges as the greatest footballer on the planet (which anyone with even a little footballing knowledge would dispute). Even the England fans suddenly found a great well of respect for him, their "England Captain".

How can you like the paper god? But at the same time, what's to dislike in the guy himself?

Very good post :thumb:
Specially part in bold.

However..............................................................

I found out today that the American Indians who have been here all this time actually migrated from what is now Russia.

Anyway, I still love Roberto Baggio, and that's how this all started in the first place.

my wife likes him too, although for entirely different reasons.

That's right, over the Bering Straights, IIRC. The point is, it's thought that they were the first there, so they had a vailid claim, as opposed to a superior firepower. :)

It's their land!!!!

Trading whiskey for gold, for crying out loud.

Someone should've gotten Sitting Bull a financial advisor.

But I digress, for I do not want to see this post get political.

Yeah, that Running Deer thought he was such hot stuff with the books, but those English accountants gave him what for. Which is, of course, why Americans hate accountants. ;)

Don't worry, I don't see political argument breaking out any time soon. No unless Vit starts taking me too literally again. :)

Usa Juventini :thumb:

Baggio will always be my favourite too cause nobody can chill like him when he has the ball in his feet. Than is true 4 Italians he is not just the simble of soccer, he is ouers flag, the contemporary person of who we are most proud. Maybe not Italians cannot understand what he means to us, but as a soccerplayer I see that he reach the "immortality" everyweare.

It is not the same like Beckham 4 England IMO, cause Baggio always had a very simple life and never looked for all the publicity he has... he just deserved it all in the field. Than Roby is really considered one of the biggest soccer legends everyweare while Beck didn't reach this status yet... maybe one day he will... but 4 the moment he is not... Roby btw is really from an other planet compared to every player of ouers country, difficoltly it will be possible that such a star will ever be born in Italy...
Somebody say that true love is just one... well Baggio is the one 4 Italian soccer... and Italy in general.

Btw Majed in his book he spoke about problems with Lippi and Bettega but never spoke bad about Juve itself, anycase like LAC said he cannot be considered "ouers" cause he is really "everybody's"...

Not the same like 4 Roby but usually I keep the simphaty 4 ex Juve players who are now playing in others teams. Especially I like ZZ but also others... I don't dislike any ex players except of who sucked so badly and made thamself impossible to like :D

Dpf , Ronaldo has never blasted Inter, his problem has always been and always would be with Cuper
I still like as i did then Baggio, Inzaghi , Zz and all the good to great players Juve sold and imo shouldn't have sold and I am completely indifferent to all those who should never have been there imo like Paramatti, Amoruso, Blanchard et al
