I agree with your assesment of his talent. But he is growing. If he had done this for a smaller team everyone would be on him and offer big money. The way he played yesterday (going forward, playing in midfield, long passes, high pressure on opponent strikers, winning duels) I see Mottas mark on him.

It's actually misplaced as well.

Gatti is more of a Bonucci than he is a Chiellini. He is better on the ball than most give credit for but his man marking is woeful.

Bonucci was indeed good on the ball in the mould of a deeplying playmaker, creating plays from the back with trademark long balls, however Gatti never does this, nor do i remember Bonucci making such forwards runs or dribbling his way up the field through pure force to create superiority and win us freekicks upfield when things get tough, that is one of the most Chiellini like features, which is why i assume some are seeing some similarities, but i think he is even more different to Bonucci in every other aspect other than being suspect defensively.

Sorry I should've specified. Not as in long balls or exactly what Bonucci was. I meant it as he is actually good on the ball as opposed to being a man marker with uneducated feet. He does have Bonucci's suspect defensive ability though.

I would say the best word to describe him is clumsy. I can understand comparisons to Chiellini as he also looked awkward with the ball sometimes, just like Gatti, but Chiellini was a monster defensively while this guy makes silly mistakes all the time.

He lacks stamina and can't engage himself for the ball in the duel with opposing players, Also he has never been an actual RB/LB. Both Chiellini and Bonucci(in his prime) are ahead of him.
