The mercatto is not even close to over yet and according to most rumors we are after other wingers too…
Tbh i expect them to agree on a bridge year contract if he does eventually end up staying, otherwise i still think they won’t just let him run down his contract that easily when the club previously had an gentlemen’s agreement with his entourage specifically about avoiding this scenario and then him also refusing to leave when we are forcing a sell should sure count for something if this management has any bit of ruthlessness in them.

No kidding. The point is, even in a worst case situation where Chiesa refuses to leave, and even if we did bring in a quality wing on loan or something, it would still be incredibly stupid to refuse to play Chiesa.

Under no circumstances would i have thought that we’d be willing to dump him for this cheap at Roma, should tell us already a lot about how he is currently viewed, along with most rumors suggesting that Motta is not counting on him at all…
Otherwise there is always the winter mercatto where we can try again to sell, although for cheaper, but at least by then he might reconsider wanting to wait for the contract to expire and perhaps be more willing to accepting a sell after potentially ending up oftentimes benched or out of the team for half a season here.

Look, i am not saying i’d personally bench him, i would rather just hand him an extra milion on his wages and give him a chance under Motta’s system too, then maybe try to sell him again next summer if he is still inconsistent because we’d still be getting better offers than what we are receiving now, but also i’d understand if the management needs to make a stand in such situations.

I am thinking of players like Lewandowski or even Mbappe trying to force a move at a big discount, and the clubs saying no you’ll stay one more year and if you don’t find agreement in that year for an extension then you still have a huge incentive to perform at the highest level so that your next club is a top club and not some minnow like Roma.
If he performs to his potential at a high level in the first half of the season then he will either secure a high earning contract with us or a free transfer to a big club.

Seems like the only concrete offer is from Roma which is sub optimal for Juventus (low transfer fee) and Chiesa (wants to play champions league). Best outcome for both parties would be a foreign club playing in the champions league willing to pay closer to 30m.

If we are willing to sell Chiesa for 20M, we clearly believe his best days are firmly behind him.
The more I think about it, the more I think the strategy is to keep Soule` (unless a huge >40m offer comes through) and loan someone like Sancho while getting hopefully north of 25m for Chiesa. The reason is that Sancho is technically more adept at Motta's style number 1, and number 2, if we get him on a loan with an option to buy it minimizes the risk. Also, it may well be that Soule` becomes first choice voiding the necessity to buy Sancho outright the following season - leaving the powder dry for an even better option down the line.
25m for Chiesa with 1 year left on his contract is the best we can get, probably we can put some profit clause to make it worth more if he actually regain his form and sold for north of 50m.Or just some bonuses if the buying club get European spot varied and increased by the level of the spot

Another option that Chiesa has every right to do --- report for preseason without an extension and try to convince Motta over the next 5-6 weeks.
If that doesnt happen, he can evaluate options at the end of the window, play the first half of the season and see how it goes & reevaluate everything in the winter window, or just play out the season and leave for free in the summer.

I think it’s time for him to go like what’s the point in him staying after all the nonsense but i highly doubt he said that publicly.
