The sad thing in all this is that dybala left for free and now chiesa for under 30m, to roma or whoever else. Arguably two players that should have got us more money over the years.

Nonetheless, as always i don't mind selling players if they are adequately replaced, be it directly or by playing a different system.

If selling chiesa for 25m today means we sign koop tomorrow, then I'm all for it.

We should keep him on and if partway through the season he performs to a high standard with the new coach then give him the extension at the salary he wants. If he proves to be a dud then let him sign for a different club in January and we will make use of him for the season.

It doesn’t have to be either the bench or an extension now or 20 mill sale. 20 mill isn’t worth it. He could have one good season with us and then leave

Not if he wants to part with us NOW.
I think it’s just as much us wanting to rid ourselves of him as soon as possible to already start rebuilding as it is himself wanting to leave because of the failed contract negotiations.

If the best offer Chiesa get is from Roma or Napoli I can see him waiting to go for free next season to Inter
They don’t play a formation that would suit him so i doubt they’d even be interested.

Whereas if he tries to run his contract down i think he will spend most of it either on the bench or in the stands, which i doubt it’s something that a fit and eager to prove himself Chiesa is willing to consider.

Chiesa is too good to send to the stands, so if he stays then may as well play him

The agreement between Roma and Juventus for Federico Chiesa is almost complete, but the crucial element is missing: the player's approval - underlines the Roman edition of La Repubblica -. Chiesa, taking his time to evaluate all the options, seems increasingly distant from Juventus. During the meeting on Thursday between his agent Ramadani and Juventus sporting director Giuntoli, it emerged clearly that there will be no contract renewal and that the striker is on the market. With this open scenario, Roma is in the lead having already found a financial agreement with Juventus: 20 million plus bonuses.

Would've liked to see him for 1 season under Motta but it's pretty clear he's never going to be world class

He relied too much on the attributes he lost after his injury. The gap between him and the younger Spain wingers for example is absolutely huge. Roma is about his level now.

Not if we try to force a sell and he refuses it along with also turning down a bridge year contract, i think the club will at the very least give him something to worry about.
