Selling him for peanuts to Liverpool and acting as this was the best course of action is quite a funny coping mechanism that is in full flow here, most went from Chiesa is untouchable and was still our best player during last seasons even when not in great form to being ok with his sell due to his absurd wage demands but expecting nothing less than €30M even on an expiring contract, fast forward and now everyone is fine with selling him for €13M and are just happy we replaced him with for example Nico Gonzalez whom if you asked anyone a few months ago who is better literally most would have told they either never watched him or that he isn’t even half the player that Chiesa is, but now he is considered better and worth the close to €40M fee, despite probably being as injury prone as Chiesa too.

Just a bit of a reality check, and i actually do rate Nico Gonzalez and think he can do well here and have an important impact despite him being prone to missing more than a few games each season due to injuries, only that i still consider the way we handled the Chiesa situation as being grossly miscalculated.

Now with all that being said i sure hope he flops massively at Liverpool. :D
i don't think anyone is happy he left but it seems he chose this course with his massive unreasonable wage demands and, overall, the team looks much stronger than it did last season which is far more important than chiesa or any individual

I guess one doesn’t exclude the other all things considered, only that his exit perhaps could have been handled in a smarter and more profitable way instead of getting played into losing him this cheap, thankfully however we managed to build a strong team despite all of this.

We can all wish to sell a player for 100s of millions but in the end, the value is determined at the market. There was no market for Chiesa due to his expiring contract and uncertainty over his recovery and fitness issues.
No, there was a market. We saw 2 of the top clubs in the world try to sign him late in the window. They just waited until the end of the window to make a move because they had all the leverage.

Giuntoli and Motta could not have handled the situation any worse than they did. Excluding him from the team and making it publicly known there was no place for him in the squad was stupid. And Liverpool took advantage of that.

I agree but don’t bring Motta into this. He has shown he can work with different players. This is all on Jungtoli who has very dystopian ways to run a football club.

We dont know how he felt about him as a player or if he wanted to keep him if his contract wasn't an issue. But I know what he said in the media, which was stupid.

I took a look at the lineup that Liverpool played against west ham last night, Chiesa operated as a RW in the formation of 4 2 3 1 and he was given the rate of 4.3. Highlight vid of his game shows he had decent game. Seems he is a replacement for Salah in long term plan.

guy's still useful when he has at least a minimum amount of space

i'd be happy to have him. no idea what went wrong between him and the club. some shit stirring by marotta is still my best bet

Can’t blame everything on Inter broseph
hold my beer

no, seriously. chiesa said the club didn't even offer him a new contract. they basically kicked him out. and the club has thick skin, look at how they handled fagioli (an extension and a raise after the betting scandal, damn - and i'm light on addicts because i know how it works), or how they trolled allegri during the winter mercato with "reinforcements" like fucking djaló or alcaraz when we were still within one game of the 1st place. they also sent tek to retirement, a dozen of players on the stand. chiesa is the only one of them who was actual quality. so he must have done something stupid. like for example what journalists rumored and he had a deal with marotta

anyway, the motta doesn't rate chiesa bullshit never made any sense to me. it's either the wages (club never made an offer because the requests were way too high) or marotta

I agree on almost everything. I think they were looking at remaining book value vs transfer value and thought they could make lots of plusvalenza, only to get fucked when kicking Chiesa out didn't cause massive bids coming in.

They did the same with Soule, even tried to sell him during the winter to the Saudis or something. We aren't butthurt because we got some cash and Soule is currently on the bench, but imagine if he were to skyrocket in value
