Dint watch the game. How was he?

Scored a goal too. Seems like Allegro's sacking boosted his morale significantly.
I’d say Chiesa had it hardest of every player in the squad playing under Allegri. Played out of position with zero creative support, and tasked with doing solo what should be done by 2-3 players, taking the ball from our box to the opponent box and creating something from nothing there. Impossible ask. Thank god that nonsense is done with.

Also Allegri would always take him off with 20-30 mins to go when the opposition was tired and all we needed was one moment of magic from Church.

chiesa had both tactical and physical issues. if he manages to play a full season without major injuries he'll be lethal

that said, not playing him together with yildiz, either in a 4-3-3 or a 3-4-3 was probably the most criminal thing macs did this season. it's just so obvious

And then some had the audacity to criticize him for not being able to do this every single time.

His shooting touch let him down a lot this year, but even with that, the guy was just asked to basically be Messi on even more HGH for us. Allegri refused to play any other creative attacking player with him to lessen the burden. And then demanded that Chiesa track all the way back to our box to defend before being given the ball and asked to carry it up to the entire pitch because our midfielders were sitting in our penalty box. It was either him or Cambiaso on opposite sides of the pitch with zero support. Insane tactics.

Looks sharper and more clinical this days, hopefully he confirms this form at the Euro’s so that he can keep that confidence and drive going all the way into next season too.
