Exactly. He's a misfit right now in almost every attacking position.

He's too lazy to be able to become an efficient CM either.

He just doesn't belong in the starting eleven right now. There is no one to blame except for him for these performances.

Can't shoot, can't make a single decent pass, can barely run past players but somehow Sarri is to blame for playing him 'out of position' lol

Any position on a football pitch is ‘out of position’ for Bernadeschit. He’s doesn’t belong anywhere near one.

Even at Novara his natural position would be outside the match day squad.

He's playing him out of position in the sense that his position should be the bench and not somewhere on the pitch.

This.

Only suitable position for this guy is on our bench and out of the starting 11. Give me Padoin and he would be more stable in this lineup than Bernie.

I can't stand the "out of position" argument. Players need to learn to adapt (minus GKs). LBs or RBs should be competent to play on either side or as a backup CB or even winger. Its always good to have players that are competent in multiple roles.

regardless of berna, different positions require different skills. ronaldo would be an awful defender, de ligt would suck as a striker. matuidi is useful at a position that requires less running with the ball, he'd suck at the heart of any midfield when plenty of movement with the ball is required. bentancur is good on the ball, can tackle, but isn't fast enough for a winger. dybala isn't fast enough for a winger either, and as the closest he plays to the opposition goal, the better he can use his left foot.

yeah, it's nice to have versatile players with multiple skills. caceres was our wildcard player for years as he could cover multiple positions. vidal was a world class b2b mid and wasn't lost behind the strikers either. or an attacker that can defend both set pieces and in open play can save your ass when your defense is shaky.

:mario:

it doesn't mean that any player should be able to adapt though. on paper, bonucci would make a decent regista with his passing, still, no coach had the nerves to try him before the defense yet. barzagli, one of the most reliable centre backs sucked ass as a right back. same for chiellini: his career basically started when he was moved to the centre from the left side of the backline. dybala sucked as a hybrid mid/winger last season, partly because of his poor form and approach, partly because of his tasks that he couldn't handle.

berna is in poor form and should absolutely be benched asap anyway, but he's not a trequartista.

And playing him out of position...

Lol, you realize Berna is an actual AM? The position he is playing since youth level? Half his career people been saying he shouldnt be wide but a nr 10.

He is just a bad player, the position doesnt change that.

This makes me miss players like Padoin. Reliable nearly every time.

Hes not bad, just out of form, confidence and on a team that aspires to play a more delicate type of footie than he can offer. Pretty sure Conte would start him every game and pretty sure he'd look good in Lazio/Atalanta as well, he just doesnt have the quick thinking of Higuain or the technical ability of Dybala to succeed in this environment

Unfortunately don't ever see him getting in form at Juve, at least this season. Can't trust him right now in important matches. Plenty of other firepower at Sarri's disposable. I mean play Costa there if so be it. Why didn't Ramsey start? Specific reason posters might know?

If he was playing better but still shit then I'd argue that he was just bad, but he has been so shit that I think he is just in a really bad vein of form, I refuse to believe he is actually this bad
