Yeah. Imagine his first day at work.
- So here's your desk. On the table you can see what kind of budget you are dealing with.
- Minus? Agnelli, what... What am I supposed to do?
- Yeah we have a lot of garbage. Uh. I mean baggage, that you can sell.
- ...
- Yeah ok it's garbage.
- ...
- But if you sell our best asset, you could possibly keep some of the garbage
- ...
- Maybe even dip your toes and sign a freebie
- Ok...
- But don't take him on for free. We don't want people to think we're that poor

“When Cristiano told us he wanted to leave, we immediately thought of anticipating the future,” Cherubini told Tuttosport.
“Kean is not the replacement of the Portuguese striker, but one of the pawns in a plan to continue winning with a different project.”

Manchester City did not intend to pay any money to sign Cristiano. United showed more respect and better conditions.

"We will do more but invest in young talent. We are confident of extending Dybala's contract,"

Wonder if he browses on here every now and again, lol

Gigio Donnarumma is another young yet experienced player who could have joined Juventus last summer. Why didn’t Juventus sign him?

“Because Juventus have an reliable goalkeeper with a long contract [Wojciech Szczesny],” Cherubini said.

"Project" is just a buzzword that they like to use a lot in Italy (and also other countries). It has to be a project because none of the teams have the ability to just go and buy whichever player they want to improve their team as PSG, City, Chelsea, Man Utd and Real Madrid do (Barcelona used to be in this group, Bayern don't really need to be as they have a stranglehold on many of the best domestic players, so remain very competitive). Still, those teams talk about their own "projects", which are basically to win every trophy every season.

I don't think that people really appreciated how we were just about hanging on in there financially with Europe's elite, our turnover was 9th or 10th in Europe at the best time in these last 10 years. So we're trying to be part of the elite 3 or 4 teams with a smaller budget than Spurs and about the same as Arsenal, and managed to sign some elite and expensive players. It was quite some going, but maybe after Covid reality will finally set in for the majority. We can only trade so far on our name, as many other historic clubs have found out. It's right that we now look towards younger players, but then we should have been doing more of that before just the past 2 or 3 seasons. Personally I'd have traded the Ronaldo signing for a couple of great talents, but it's easy to say that now. At the time we thought it would be the final step to becoming a CL favourite for 3 or 4 seasons.

Give the man another summer transfer window ....although this year was below average ...but let's agree that CR7 was locking everything ...

now he left ...resources are freed ....we can maneuver in the market .... and it is not fair to judge him from just one market window ...

but all what i want ...consistency ...in every level in this club ....otherwise we are firing the stars !

On Dybala: "Even if there’s a tendency to leave the club at the end of the contract, I remain am calm, as it happened with Locatelli, it doesn’t matter if we need one extra meeting to reach an agreement,”

Artur, taking one for the team, already a legend.

Apart from the terrible summer mercato, it was expected that he would say what he said. It's nothing new and everything he said is sort of been said before. He was not going to apologize for not replacing Szczesny nor for ignoring several weaknesses in the team.

Well in that phrase with meetings, dont see u an inner Marotta in him? Beppe would do such comments when he was there, when he knew the general public laughed at it.

They really went all in with older players after signing Ronaldo in an attempt to get the most out of Ronaldo years and win the CL. Only time I've seen the club not future-oriented but zone in on present like the anti Juve clubs.

If anyone takes the comment about Donna-Szczęsny seriously, then the blame is on him, lol.

Cherubini literally says there that Tek has a long and big contract, so we couldn't take another expensive keeper. Goes with the line of other transfers that the club made this Summer, so there's no point in doubting his (indirect) words here.
