I have an irrational fear of needles and spiders.

I suppose my more rational fear would be heights.. I would have no problem being in a high building but as soon as the barrier goes away..

Failure. Just the thought of it makes me seriously ill. But the irony is that I am not afraid of lowering standards if a target seems too difficult, it's just that I want to have something to show for the efforts.

Why is a fear of heights considered rational and fear of needles irrational? You could just as well die from an infected needle as you can from falling off a high building.
