TAR can give us back serie A with no pts deduction and our 2 scudetti or tell the FIGC to start the process all over again with a more serious verdict and new people making the decisions(I guess). The latter would take more time and delay/maybe cancel the season.

thanks for the information
this is really hard to happen

We can also appeal to the Consiglio di Stato before the European Court.

What a sham this hearing was! Rossi already KNEW the outcome. Why is it that no one questions how he knew what would happen days before the verdict?

He is corrupt down to his toes. Who does he answer to? And who appointed him? Sorry I don't know the hierarchy of FIGC.
A bit complicated:
FIGC is one of the federations of CONI. The head of CONI is Petrucci, the man who named Rossi. But Coni is under the supervision of the government, that gives them the much needed funds.
Italy has a left sided government and Rossi is known to be a commun.. cough... let's say he has many friends there.

Perhaps if Juventus were as powerful as was made out, we would have 'friends' in high places and control and the top of these organisations.
Yep, not to mention that this cr*p wouldn't even have started.

Matarrese 'closes' Calciopoli Friday 18 August, 2006

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New Lega President Antonio Matarrese has opened a row with the FIGC’s Guido Rossi by urging an end to the Calciopoli punishment.

Federation chief Rossi was disappointed at the discounts given to clubs in the match-fixing scandal, as he explained in an interview with newspaper 'La Repubblica’ this week.

“If I join a private club, then I have to respect the rules. I can’t just steal the silverware and then complain. Why isn’t anyone more indignant about all of this? Why aren’t the newspapers demanding action?”

However, the statement only infuriated new Lega Calcio chief Matarrese (pictured), who was President of the FIGC for several years in the 1980s and 90s.

“We can change football together, but we have to stop piling bitterness on to those who have already had to put up with so much. Rossi is useful for the sport, but now enough is enough. Nobody has been stealing here. Those who made mistakes have paid the price and it’s time to turn over a new leaf,” stated Matarrese.

Juventus were demoted to Serie B for their part in the scandal, while Fiorentina, Lazio, Reggina and Milan have been ordered to start the new season with a points penalty.

“The Lega Calcio must not be perceived as an association of criminals. As Rossi slowly gets into our world, he will understand the system and gain experience. People here want to work with him and so we must try to avoid misunderstandings that aren’t helping anybody. I am the first to stand by Rossi’s desire to change football.”

1) Well, first of all I agree with Mr. Antonio Matarrese's first statement, although I find it over the top naive and immature to even think of of a clean sport in Italy at this point. That would mean clearing the entire system up, which if the miracle happened would take years...

2) I at one point condoned the cheatings Juve did, ie. Moggi. I found it relieving to know we were protected. Then I faced myself and agreed the world needs a clean sport.

The only reason Luciano Moggi launched his massive schemes were to protect Juventus from the true power in Italian football - Milan.

obviously that didnt work out and here we are, i am one of the people who still cant make up his mind on whether moggi did the right thing or did he just bring us down with him. i strongly dont understand why the team suffers and the presidents or the people behind all this are just living happily as if nothing happened. i think the teams dont need the punishment its the italian fed that needs to be cleaned and sorted out properly with out the interferring of club presidnents only then will the league be corruption free. relegating teams doesnt put an end to all this joke.

Thanks Isha for the clarification about the FIGC hierarchy. Seems to me the corruption begins at the top and the Federation needs to be investigated first and cleaned up first. If Rossi wants to clean up calcio he should clean up his own act and resign or he should be tossed out. All this posturing is making me sick.

Let me just say that I love Italy, have a lot of family there and spend a lot of time there...but I don't think corruption will ever be eliminated in Italy. It's too deeply entrenched there in all kinds of ways. It has become a way of life in many areas of business. All these political appointments and people in high positions with blatant conflicts of interest are just another example.

Call me cynical but that's the way I see it.

I don't think Juve will be able to avoid Serie B and I don't have a good feeling. I think it's totally unfair that Juve was the only team relegated. But maybe Alex is right and we should just get busy playing calcio and by next season we are back in Serie A giving Inter and Milan nightmares.

BUT I do want our Scudettos back. They were unfairly taken from us.

Azzurrigirl, the system is surely corrupted, but the European Court won't care who Rossi is friends with.
I say we need to keep on fighting and do anything not to let them win.
