He was selfish many times yesterday, there were occasions when he should've just passed the ball but he decided to whether try a shot or hold to the ball too much until he lost it. Average perfformance, Matri is still better.

And it is indeed painfully obvious how the Quag-Vuci partnership does not work as it should.
Both of them look to turn and run into the box at the same time. Matri has a better understanding with Vucinic he plays better with his back to goal, I'd argue that Del Piero and Quag are on the same wavelength though. Could be interesting, it would be nice to see those two start the next match together.

Quag and Del Piero have more in their legs now than Matri and Vucinic. Almost as if Conte prepared them for this final push. When the rest of the league is tired, these two are actually better prepared physically than they ever were during this season. Considering that they aren't strangers to each other and they already have half a season of playing as a pair behind them, it would be to our advantage if we use them as our main attacking pair for the rest of the season.

P.S: If we only had a 4th man for the midfield as we do for the attack.....

It seems you forgot Marrone and Elia.

I mean the 3 CMs so Elia doesn't fit there. For Marrone I'm not sure if he would have the same impact in the midfield as the experienced DP and Quag could have in attack in the last weeks of the league. You know, a player who is well rested and physically excellently prepared at the moment, but who also has quality to replace the starters and even give more than they could give at this point of the season. I'm not sure if Marrone can replace any of our starting CMs in such a way. What we need is a well rested "Marchisio" to replace the tired Marchisio. We don't have that because Marrone and Padoin just aren't there yet.

Interesting theory. In fact I was thinking about that yesterday, more specifically with regards to Alex. Im wondering now if Conte was holding him back as a trump for the final push of the season given that we never really lost sight of Milan while they were ahead of us. Hypothesis, but if he's done it with that intent then he's a genius, if he just took a chance for lack of a better idea, than he couldn't have had a better idea than Alex. Having said that though, I don't think Matri is that tired either, he hasn't had much to do in recent weeks, except the odd cameo. Vucinic might be. But I feel Ale-Quag should be the strikers of choice against teams that'll play like Cesena.

Quag too. Just a few days ago I was reading an article where Quag was saying how Conte didn't let him play because he wasn't physically prepared yet to play more often. Conte is a maniac as you can see from the latest interviews with our players where they say what the coach asks them to do during training. During the season Del Piero and Quag who still felt the consequences of last years injury, just couldn't cope with the rhythm, I guess. That's why they got to play so little. But now at the end of the season they can safely be put on the pitch and handle the rhythm even better than those who were better prepared throughout the season.

Yea, your right about the injury bit, I read that interview. That was glaringly evident in Quags game in the earlier part of the season but once Borriello saw e bench Quag was still getting more playing time than Alex despite not being at his best. Its the last 3 or so weeks that Conte has really given Ale a fair shot IMO. Which is why I wonder if he was saving one striker and maybe this pairing for the final push.

Both Quag and Matri should be given the chance to impress Prandelli ATM. Both deserve to start IMO.

Del Piero being very effective coming on the last 30 mins, I'd rest Vucinic for 2-3 matches.
