He had some decent interplays but Matri was having an off night. Even still, the ball came to them few and far between. What changed after Gio came on for Quag? More of the same?! Long balls. With him having even less of a chance to reach it than Quag. Vucinic-Quag would be my call for the return leg.
I agree, I even wrote that I can't blame him for tonight.

I would go for a Vucinic - Quags/Matri - Gio trident next game. The difference between Matri and Quags is small, what one lacks in the technical department he makes up in his running patterns and vice-versa.

Na Hoori. Tonight is not a night you can blame any forward on the team. They didn't suck. They had no service. The team collapsed. We didn't hold shape. There's nothing they could do when the team itself had like 35 pct possession?! And was giving the ball away every time we had it. Can't see how anyone can lay blame on the forwards. Pirlo, Marchisio, Bonnucci were the worst on the pitch tonight. Vidal was the only one who was up to the task.

You can't quantify how big or small. It'll just show based on the opponent. Bayern have gotten used to not being troubled in defense and near goal. A Vucinic-Quag tandem can break that according to me. One to hold the ball, the other with a lethal shot. It's not about the level these guys are playing at, it's about how much they're being played to their strengths.

Of course I don't blame our forwards. It's not their fault that they are all we have and it's not their fault that they have to play :p

But most importantly, it's not their fault that this team couldn't create one single opportunity for them with a midfield of Marchisio, Pirlo and Vidal. There are simply no excuses. The team was shite tonight, and a lot of the blame lies with the midfield and regista of defense.

Quag had a better game than Matri tonight, which doesn't tell much anyways.
No, it doesn't. Matri controlled the ball 10 yards with pretty much every touch, so it is almost impossible to not be better than that.

I remember Quagliarella had one decent turn and fair attempt to play Lichtsteiner in, that was it.

Even when our Fwds had an off game.... ALL THE BLAME goes to our midfield.

IMO theres no 2 ways about it. They fukin pooped it BIG time today. We are practically out because im sure as hell bayern wills core at least one mor.

Had a couple of interchanges with Matri and a nice flick on which Matri missed, held the ball up and distributed it pretty well, once to Vidal and once to Licht. He won a free kick, the one at Pirlo almost scored from, and overall looked comfy on the ball. The times he had issues is when the ball was played long. Quag, Matri and most strikers playing with their back to goal are always going to want ball played to feet. That didn't happen yesterday and I honestly don't see the point in blaming them, coz I personally think Quag would've probably been better deployed with Pogba or Vucinic playing the ball to him since there was almost no link between midfield and attack.

Honestly there isn't a single player that can be blamed for this game, because everyone bar Vidal played terrible. Our whole team was destroyed by Bayern and by their own mistakes. It's as simple as that.

I'm not Quag's biggest fan but he can't be blamed for tonight, he should have started alongside Vucinic or Conte should have just played a 6 man midfield..Matri was always going to be useless in a match like yesterdays

I think it's a bad move to bench Quag against Pescara when he's showing form especially on the back of the Bayern game, Conte should instead use it as an opportunity to give Vucinic and him some time together to prepare them for the return leg. I don't think Anelka is in any shape to play 3 days apart or offer what Quag is at the moment. This is the lack of continuity that doesn't let him play to optimum potential each time he's on the pitch.

What form though? He played one good game and now he's in form? In the last 15 games he has scored 3 goals.

I'd much rather see what Anelka can do next to Vucinic. A 40 year old Anelka is a better finisher than any of our strikers and I would love to get him going.

Pescara has to be the right time for him to rest. Two tough games back to back, and he hasn't played many like this with us.

baggio just wants to see if he can pad his stats :D
