The lack of width and pace in attack is as big of an issue as our midfield, but not addressed nearly as often

A big reason why Liverpool and Man City are so strong is because players like Salah, Mane, Sterling, and Sane stretch and rip opponents apart. Gnabry and Coman are doing the same job for Bayern this season.

Bernardeschi has fallen off a cliff. Cuadrado isn’t good enough anymore. Costa is always injured. The main reason we play so narrow is because we have nothing out wide.

So we play narrow because we have nothing out wide but have something better in the middle that makes us play so narrow yet clueless with repetitive sideway passes and no penetration?

Could you further elaborate this fine statement?

This

Shift the focal point of our game further forward

Ramsey Bentancur Rabiot

Pjanic

Ronaldo Dybala

2 in the midfield are water carriers, Ramsey can link more and Pjanic more freedom

I'd say change to a midfield 2 but we have like one winger fit
This is the same problem we had in Lyon. 3 static non compatible mids and 2 non compatible forwards. Only difference is Ramsey instead of Cuads.

They all also have fullbacks who push forward. We play slow ass DMs who think they are De Bruyne and B. Silva so the fullbacks cant go forward much. Having Bonucci and Pjanic protecting their backs is not a help either. But the real issue is sarree trying to have us attack through the middle with DMs and no CF

We have Dybala down the middle.
Wasn’t he supposed to play closer to the goal?

Also for it to work you’d need a few others capable of passing the ball forward or to combine quick 1-2’s with him around the middle which isn’t exactly a luxury we possess right now either.

Dybala always drops deep and wants the ball at his feet, that’s just his style of play. As long as he isn’t shackled with any defensive duties, he usually plays well.

Last season we had Cancelo who was dynamite going forward (albeit a liability defensively). This season we have Danilo who is a nothing player. That transfer alone has made our wing play significantly weaker.

What you talking about??? Danilo is the closest player we’ve ever had to Cafu.
