So what he turns 25 next month? Isn't it possible to improve as a player after certain age due to gained experience? Or are you concerned that since he's 25 and not 21 we won't get to utilize his services longer? Rugani came to Juve when he was younger and how did that help him? Same for De Sciglio, he started playing for Milan when he was very young and so what? Then look at Luca Toni. When he was 25 he was still playing for Brescia. He didn't play for a top club before he hit 30. Didn't stop him from becoming a legend and a world champion.

There’s really no blueprint for progression. If anything I’d say that Italian scouts have massively failed in regards to Gatti. Back to back promotions, becoming the best defender in Serie B last year and didn’t need a lot of time to adjust at the highest level. Imagine being a (national) scout for a mid table team, they’ve been sleeping. Missed a great opportunity

For us it's even better that he's already 25yo - Italian defenders usually get better when they're closer to 30.

His path definitely wasn't easy which definitely built him, he doesn't stink of douche or big headed at all. Just put it the work and nothing else, no bs.

I’m not sure but I don’t see why it is relevant. We did basically the same thing with De Winter, Ranocchia and Iling this year.

Gatti was already signed by a major club midway through his debut season in serie B, so when did other clubs miss a window to buy him? After his one season in serie C? He didn't even become a full time professional until the second half of 2020, so holding that against serie A clubs is tough. And unlike the guys you listed, Gatti was sold, not loaned. Much less risk with loanees.

I remember Pescara when they were promoted to Serie A. Verratti has never played a minute of Serie A and went directly from Serie B to PSG.
Insigne went on to become a beast with Napoli for a number of years and Immobile is a four time capocannoniere in Lazio (which is utterly insane btw!!!)

The biggest reason to send him on loan is that he doesn't seem to be developing. Remember before the season he was saying he wanted to leave Juventus if we were about to send him on loan? I worry he already thinks he's a top player. It's one thing to keep him around so he can rotate into the first team, but if he's not using that time to improve then it's useless.

He needs a reality check, is what I'm saying.
