i´m not a big fan of prandelli. just because he is italian, relatively young and played for juve?

OK, he has done great work with the viola, but he plays the same italian type of football, which i can´t stand anymore.

I´ve said it numerous times, a big NO to italian coaches.

My pick? Laurent Blanc. plays quick football, delivers excellent results, nice football.

Prandelli doesn't play the same type of football as Capello...

It's funny how some talk of how people seem to want a coach just because he is Italian, but likewise some seem not to simply because one is Italian. Daft stereotypes really.

have to laugh,i hated Capello's style when he was with Juve, especially when you compated it to the gorgeous football his Roma team played. folk seem to think it was down to the players he had,but....
we took Emerson from them and Zebina

they had Totti< Del Piero
they had Candela< Zambrotta
they had Batigol=Trezeguet
they had Montella:lol:<<<<we had Ibra
Thuram,Buffon,etc....

Capello moulded Juve into a tactical nightmare to play against,he made them hard, both physically and mentally, when he came to Juve he could ahve gotten us to play the great football Roma did but he realised thta at this club, winning is more important than anything

for this reason and only this reason i would take him back,to get back to winning,no matter how ugly it is

oh and because then i would have an excuse for ressurecting the Don Juan Capello series

Capello should be number one on everyone choice....but I have no idea why anyone would Chooose Blanc, Prandelli or anyone else with an ok resume ahead of someone like Benitez. Guy is a proven winner with 2 different teams in 2 different leagues. You can't beat that type of resume.

It's a fair criticism though. Most Italian managers are living in the dark ages and are not going to change their antiquated view of the game. There are of course a few exceptions just like there are to everything, but the majority play 20th century football. We need a manager who is more in touch with reality of the game today.

I think that is due really to the fact that they are the older, more established coaches, so it makes sense for them to be set in their original ways. They are also the best coaches Italy has to offer as a complete package, and Serie A has became less competitive for losing Capello and Lippi, as well as Ancelotti. If you look at coaches who play stereotypical 'Italian football', including Mourinho, then they tend to be the most successful. I don't agree that the majority of Italian coaches still play antiquated football though, there has definitely been a shift in mentality at several clubs.

Just looking at this article:
http://www.fifa.com/worldfootball/clubfootball/news/newsid=1092981.html

Coaches who play with an attacking stye are a bit of a mixed bag; Gasperini, Ferrara, Prandelli, Ventura, Marino, Rossi, Allegri plus Mancini and sometimes Ancelotti who have gone, others I guess you could classify as two-way. We just need a winner.

I'm the exact same, I wanted rid of him at the time because of the style of football we played, but I am happy to sacrifice style for results at the moment.

I've forgotton what it feels like when Juve are challenging for a title and I miss it!

Let's be realistic about Capello... we have a snowballs chance in hell of getting him back. I watch the EPL every week and see a good amount of Liverpool games during the season. I wouldn't say he's proven in two leagues. Sure he fluked the CL his first year and what has he done since then? Really had his best chance to win the league last year and he missed it. For me he lacks the mental strength and determination top flight managers need. Plus if we got Rafa, Jose would crucify him every chance he gets and Rafa doesn't thrive under that kind of pressure.
