We took Zhegrova from Lille
Somehow Correia is Lille starting eleven as LW in their last 3 Ligue 1 matches. 3 apps 3 Assists. Won 2 matches and draw 1 match.

Our Next Gen really produce quite a lot of good players
I believed in this guy, shame we couldn't utilise the best while still owning him or having a good sell on/buy back clause at the time.

Is this the point we look back at the posts where users thought he's nothing special other than skills and have a laugh?

This is sometimes how football works, unfortunately. It's often about timing and being in the right place at the right time.

At Next Gen he was an inconsistent player who looked like he was a genius one minute but then would be very frustrating for the rest of the game. Basically a young winger. Overall he was too good for Serie C though.

The loan to Parma didn't work. He didn't get regular time and then when he did play he didn't do well. Then he got a serious injury and was out for months. There wasn't really much chance of him staying with us by the end of that.

I'm pleased he's doing well though. He was often a bright spot watching NG, you never knew what he was going to do next.

Seems like he had a breakout season with Gil Vicente and Lille have started the season with a purple patch. Football is full of these stories.

This is where 'we' (club) need to be patient, if the kid is too good for serie C and was sent to a club which didn't play him then we should pull him out early or choose a less pressured environment i.e a serie B team that is tactically setup for these players, and fighting for survival or a midtable team.

'Our' choices contribute to how the players develop. Its just recognising signs early and knowing where the player could grow. If a club doesnt play our youths more than 5-10 games before december then we dont loan to that club. I'ts difficult of course because the flip side is imagine loaning huijsen out to pescara rather than Roma. Usual case by case basis thorough understanding of where the player actually is. Timing is everything. Getting this right is important otherwise we will see more examples of Correira or Huijsens sliding through our fingers. Im not saying its not possible to make mistakes its just some teams do less than others and actually have the experience and know-how to do this. If we need to recruit/poach staff from sporting, benfica, lille, dortmund, ajax etc, then we absolutely should.

With all that said, im pleased with the progress we've made over the last 5 years, but we can now take this one level higher.

Unfortunately there is no Manna and Tognozzi anymore so there's a big question mark that we can maintain the quality.
Also there is a bad sign that no next gen player promote to senior team this season.
