That is a fair point but regardless of weather or not France are there the cup will still have plenty of great teams. Seeing as how Argentina have made it and Portugal are in IMO almost guaranteed to be there, France being the one traditional powerhouse to miss out wouldn't damage the competition.

Actually this time we might have more than one representative. One of either Egypt or Algeria is going through, plus there is a big possibility that Tunisia will go through as well. Don't underestimate Bahrain, they've always been stronger on the road, so i expect them to qualify too.
