This isn't CL, but still it gets loads of exposure, and us playing second fiddle players are terrible for our image. Couldn't we go out all guns blazing beat them 5-0 and get some positive reaction from this negative situation(us playing in EL instead of CL).

We were both horrible and unlucky to go out of this years cl. It doesnt matter what formation you play when the players makes silly mistakes leading to goals. Our players looked mentally very fragile in the whole cl campagne, that is contes responibility to sort. With the players we have 4-3-3 makes zero sense as a primary formation really, even if somehow worked against real to try to neutrulice ronaldo , bale di maria.

but complaining about the backline still is quite questionable (at least...). with chiellini and barzagli out that´s the best we have to offer.

i find it especially amusing that the serie a thread is full with people saying "omg roma are SO strong. it will be a tough battle till the end. we will need all our strengh to overcome them." and on the other hand they are going full retard as soon as we don´t play one of our regular starters in the EL or against weaker opposition (chievo at home)... even if it´s down to injuries ^^

Its just not worth risking inj and exhustion to give it all in the stupied 2 rate cup. Look at milan atl.madr last night, rb and balotelli with inj. It was a very tough game. If this becomes that type of game, a want vidal, pogba and tevez out to prevent inj.

Easy 2-0 or scrappy and frustrating performance because of our changes, I can't decide.

I'm glad Tevez is playing, even with his European record, he utilises the ball well and keeps an attacking tempo. Quite ironic that we will field Peluso and Isla, probably better crossers than the first choice wing backs, and Llorente will not play.

the fullbacks can afford to not defend against the winbacks because if they are defending deep the wingers will defend against the wingback. this means that the fullbacks can hold tight with the centrebacks so that they can stop the 2 centre forwards plus any runsfrom pogba or marchisio.

The problem we have with the 5-3-2 is we have no creativity other than Pirlo. The strikers either do flick ons or Llorente holds the ball up, thats not really going to trouble a decent defence and certainly wont make many good goal scoring chances. We have no counter attack even though we play a lot of the game in our own half that in itself makes no sense. Tevez cant score in Europe it is a pretty well known fact on this forum. Llorente seems like he is the best option we have for goals as our wing play is non existent really.

Cant rely on Vidal + Pogba to score all our goals for us or make the chances we just dont have the attacking players to take the game to the other teams in Europe. In other words we have a pussy team in terms of attacking play.

While there isn't anything that can be done with the backline, the choice of wide players is disgusting. Add to that starting with Osvaldo. When your team is suffering critical injuries you don't go and add to its woes in three different positions two of which being the most crucial to our play.

Roma are consistent and they will look stronger because they have full focus on the league. If the league is our number one priority then why are Vidal, Pirlo, Tevez, Pogba and Buffon playing?

Big teams all around Europe play a strong Starting XI in 3 competitions ffs, but even though we're only in 2 people think it's impossible to treat both seriously.

We NEED Co-efficient points, or we'll be in an awful and demanding group more often than not. Then we'll always have to balance the start of the season with very big games

If we draw a strong pot 1 and pot 2 team because we're in pot 3 after an abysmal campaign, we'll be in a shit position for years to come. If we do well in the EL we can get in pot 2 and the odds are in our favour. Plus there's always plenty of great teams in pot 2. Which we can avoid all together.
