isla at right wing won't be such a bad option. the guy needs to build his self confidence back man, I mean he plays there for chile most of the time and he performs really well. he played there against spain and he scored a bomber

Isla has always failed every time he got the chance with us. At any case, this is not the time to make experiments, such experiments could happen in the league, where the title is almost secured.
Isla is not good enough defensively to add that extra defensive coverage that is needed, to compensate for the absence of our only two defenders who can actually defend!

ok, due to Marotta's incompetence, we lack quality back ups in the defense, but are Asamoah and Licht injured/suspended, or is it just Conte trying to get rid of another cup competition?
no quality CB's?? are you out of your mind? Remember the days of Knezevic, Mellberg and Grygera... those were shitty backups...

Ogbonna: over 50 matches in the serie A under his belt.. plus a couple of matches with the azzurri
Caceres: 50 serie A matches and over 80 matches in the primera division... also: over 50 matches with uruguay

those aren't shitty backups... it's our wingers that are shitty backups

Can't believe people are actually willing for us to make even bigger fools out of ourselves and get embarrased in the EL straight after a shameful CL campaign

Big teams all around Europe play a strong Starting XI in 3 competitions ffs, but even though we're only in 2 people think it's impossible to treat both seriously.

We NEED Co-efficient points, or we'll be in an awful and demanding group more often than not. Then we'll always have to balance the start of the season with very big games

If we draw a strong pot 1 and pot 2 team because we're in pot 3 after an abysmal campaign, we'll be in a $#@! position for years to come. If we do well in the EL we can get in pot 2 and the odds are in our favour. Plus there's always plenty of great teams in pot 2. Which we can avoid all together.
this!!! we are so close to Pot 2... we should go for it.. it could make us avoid a group of death like there has been every single year

First 20 minutes will prove crucial.
If we manage to score, the turks will be fucked.
Otherwise, we might struggle but cannot see us losing this one, even with Peluso and Isla on the pitch

Yeah our CB back ups are as good as we can realistically hope for

Sadly, the quality of defenders is pretty poor compared to other years, so the back ups we have are actually some of the best back ups out there, even if they are a bit mistake prone.

Isla fails at right wing back but he will succeed at right win. I am not asking to change players but to change formation just un Europe. we can have a solid 433 with the players that are going to be used today.

buffon
caceres bonucci ogbonna peluso
pogba pirlo marchisio
isla llorente tevez

compared to

buffon
caceres bonucci ogbonna
isla pogba pirlo marchisio peluso
tevez osvaldo

the 433 setup will mostly dominatethe game because they can press high whereas the 352 as to sit deep but when they do sit deep they cannot counterattack just with tevez or Osvaldo. I would like to see the 433 instead of the 352.

While there isn't anything that can be done with the backline,
yet there were complaints about it...

the choice of wide players is disgusting. Add to that starting with Osvaldo. When your team is suffering critical injuries you don't go and add to its woes in three different positions two of which being the most crucial to our play.
so asamoah and lichtsteiner are supposed to play every single minute? this team is more than capable of winning against trabzonspor.
i think the bigger problem might be the mentality. of course conte can´t come out and say "fuck the EL" but maybe that´s the way it is.

If the league is our number one priority then why are Vidal, Pirlo, Tevez, Pogba and Buffon playing?
buffon is a keeper, i can´t see vidal in the line-up and pogba+tevez have been rested on the weekend...?!
imo (or at least i hope so) conte chose two line-ups which give us a very good chance against chievo, trabzonspor and torino and will evaluate after. there are deciding weeks conming up in serie a and if they go well i can see us paying more attention to the EL, if they don´t we may see a full team of reserves in the round of 16 (if we qualify).
could be way off though.

of course there is always a chance that we fuck up but considering the injury situation, the opposition, the situation in serie a and the derby on sunday i fully agree with conte´s choices (today and last sunday).
i think some on this forum will always complain as long as there is someone missing from the first 11...

We lost both of our qualified CBs for a crucial knock out match, shouldnt we field the best we can at the other lines, to compensate?
Marrotas incompetence? No one can be that consisten in trolling.

Shit mentality is thinking we can handle two competitions fielding out best players, and win serie a. If vidal, tevez, pirlo, pogba gets inj. we are in big trouble.
It's not about rotating, it's about statement. You could rest on of the players on the wing in this match and the other in Torino. But fielding such a staing lineup really shows our intention for this cup and what we think of our oponent

For ovious reasons serie a should be considered alot more important than this cup. (3 in a row, 30 offical scudetto). Roma is just too close and too good to prioritize this cup.

Team suggested by SKY doesn't look unreasonable to me.

Would look better with either Barzagli or Chiellini in there, but that can't be helped.

Beyond that, it looks decent enough. There was always going to be some rotation, but I don't think Conte would be going too far in rotating the squad if the predicted team is what he ends up going with.
