What's wrong with saying the truth? If you assume our team gave their all in this match (like well paid professionals are supposed to do) then it's easy to conclude that we weren't good enough. It's better to admit it and move on instead of attacking a Benfica fan with thousands of "ifs" that many here did. Once you start to look for excuses it ends up ridiculous. For example people who hate Pep and Barca laugh at them when they say they dominated the game and should have won. Those same people bring up meaningless stats as argument to Juve vs Benfica match and it's alright.

Benfica is about our level and that's it. We aim to be much higher than that but it'd be good to realize we're not there yet and congratulate them on their win. After all they were missing 4 starters and still managed to beat us. Some here overreact over the loss in a negative way but the others will to everything to defend the team and coach so it's impossible to express an opinion.

The only peasant in here is you. Most people see the problems but you don't so it's pointless to talk. Most agreed with my statement and even +rep me while you're insulting as usual. Grow up.

The difference between pep bayern and us is .....the possession is handed over to them by teams sitting deep they let them have the ball thats why it looks stupid with so much given possession if they cant do something with it . That is not the case with our team, if we have more possession against benfica it shows we earned it playing well ....that is why possession becomes important in our case.
how can you not understand this ?
Possession in 2 different games can mean different things to different teams . One team earns it but doesnt take the chances to score , the other inspite of getting free possession doesnt score.

Why would anyone complaing about good luck ?
Its like you when buy lottery and you win it will you complain ?

We dominated again had over 65% possession , its not like we were sleeping thru out the game , woke up at 90th min and scored .
Its easy to differentiate between a deserv

Yesterday game has nothing in common with luck.If we werent lucky we will scored 4 instead of 2 goals for example.Bad luck is not making a 2 chances, real chances whole game and putting one goal.Possesion does not have anything with that.Bayern before two days had 67% versus 23% Real. And Real wins. Was Bayern better?Absolutely noting

Again same thing my friend bayern is given possession , all that have to do is break the other team down with ribery robben mandzukic etccc.. We are not given possession teams attack us so we have to neutralize that and build our play with possession , since we dont have the pace to do counters.

I can't understand something that's not there, sorry.

So if we dominate it's good and well earned but if they do so it's because other teams give them possession away? That's bs. Their style forces other teams to sit back deep that's why. Why not apply the same rule to every team so it'd be fair this way? Have you ever come to conclusion Benfica gave us the ball so they could play counter attacking style and finish us off? How does that differ us from Barca/Pep's Bayern?

Again looking for excuses as I see. Apply the same rule to everyone or let's just agree to disagree.

If anything we should be thankful teams in Europe don't see us as a major threat. We don't have the quality to break down top class buses. Sure we can usually do it in Serie A but not against the big boys. We don't have enough creativity and the other option (Crossing) is not an option for us because we have no wide men who can do it.

What a l definition of a need for possession of the ball.We have to posses the ball not to give possession teams to attack us.So ,to posses to prevent attack from other team not we to score.Very interesting thinking. How I ommised to understand that?

Am I the only one that feels we weren't THAT much more dangerous than Benfica in the first half? We had a grand total of two shots.
No,me too.More I think that we sucks in the first half ,the fact that many members here dont want to confess that is true.

No you're not the only one. Only a very few members think we were something, the rest thing we were below average.

What "chances" did we create exactly? The 5 shots on the goal?
I expect more from a team like we have.
I expected more with the squad we had under Capello. The thing is, we've always played this kind of way in Europe. What's fucking new to you guys? We've never played fast counter attacking the way the Reals or Bayerns etc..... Always patient slow build up play. Could it be mentality of Italian managers in Europe? Maybe. "Pussy approach" as we've heard here. We for years approached games in Europe with a cautious approach, sometimes even too cautious. We've always struggled with teams who play a fast style of play. Watch when the EPL teams play Italian teams (apart from Chelsea) they know we don't like it.

Fully agree with this. Just a shame that the one season we regularly played dynamic, high pressing football (Conte's first season) we weren't actually in any european competitions.

I actually think we played quite a good match and were unlucky not to win. Strange game but it wouldn't be shameful to bow out of Europe playing the way we did from the 30th minute onwards.
The same could be said for our showings in our CL group. We picked ourselves up after the 30th minute and were unlucky not to score more goals. After a while it starts to sound a bit lame to be honest. Again concentration killed us in defense and we weren't efficient enough in our final third, giving away goals and not taking our own chances. I wasn't really entertained by our performance.
