But even with the Calciopoli then it's not like you just go out and win the CL. Seems they just had the perfect season with Mourinho. For many of their old players it was their last chance as well.
Calciopoli allowed them to establish domestic dominance for 4 seasons and also take some of our players (Ibra most notably). They had an excellent base for Mourinho and with the Ibra sale allowed him to build his ideal team. They also got lucky, Chelsea were without Cech, A. Cole, Essien and Deco, then CSKA in QF, offside goal vs barca and Bayern without Ribery in the final.

The problem was, that was Mourinhos team as it was built for him, so when he left it started falling apart. Didn't help that all their leaders were old and were on their last try. moratti also lost the desire to keep investing as he reached his goal already, hence the decline.

That Eto'o goal against Chelsea changed their CL fate. They were looking like they were going out and it was unexpected

Seems like it was just their season.

Mourinho was a master at making players buy into a system, putting their own desires on the pitch aside

Eto'o defensive winger . Pandev workhourse wide player. Stankovic in a deep position. Sneijder actually pushing himself 100% (which he very rarely did in his career) and not drinking and party'ing.

That team is very underrated here because we hate inter. But holy shit how good was that.

Obviously, with a CL in the bag, there was no way another manager could possibly convince those players to make similar sacrifices again

If Inter was smart (roflmao), they would have made sales and rebuild from the core and cashed in on sneijder

Let‘s not forget it took them until the last game to secure a title against their primary antagonist during those years, Roma, who lets face it (even to Juve’s discredit) usually indicates a subpar Serie A.

Inter will win. And celebrate like it’s Champions League. And then continue to talk about losing the title by 1 point.
Deserves to be celebrated imo whoever wins it. Sure it ain't CL calibre but it's a big competition.

Oh and I do think Conte is fucking great, even if they lose it. They wouldn't have reached the finals without him.
