2 striker formations are hard to play. That's just the reality nowadays.
It's such a rudimentary analysis that people overlook. Defending with 8 vs. 9. You have one less player, it's hard, duh. Unless you are prime Atletico and it's actually 10 men.
The first half was meh, but they played fantastic game in second half.

That way you have plenty of players covering the middle but still enough width. It's still a formation more used by some smaller sides that have done well like Wolves and Girona when they were still coached by Machin.
His brilliance as an individual certainly led to us having these high standards.
