Emery's 352 was pretty awful and shows why this formation never works in Europe. The back 3 were easily pressed by Chelsea's attacking 3. The transition from attack to defence is also way too slow. Glad we ditched Conte after watching this heck of a formation.

2 striker formations are hard to play. That's just the reality nowadays.

It's such a rudimentary analysis that people overlook. Defending with 8 vs. 9. You have one less player, it's hard, duh. Unless you are prime Atletico and it's actually 10 men.

I actually think that the 3-4-3 / 5-4-1 formation will gain popularity pretty soon.

How come? I cant even remember which 3-x-x squad had succes recently? Probably Dutch NT in 2014 WC
That way you have plenty of players covering the middle but still enough width. It's still a formation more used by some smaller sides that have done well like Wolves and Girona when they were still coached by Machin.
