Their football is outdated. Today they tried something different from tiki taka, because they rightfully assumed it will be defeated by an organized Italy. At one point in the 20th minute Italy had more possession, which was impossible a year ago. But they soon realized that they can't play anything different from tiki taka and went back to it again. Until they learn, they will be easily defeated by every decent team.
