I heard Del Piero talking about winning the World Cup recently on TalkSport. He said it perfectly. 1. Italy believed they were invincible. 2. All players would be able to do everything, ie, the attackers could defend with their lives and the defenders could score when given the chance. There was no player who didn't perform because they didn't fit a system, they just did what they had to do. This is how 'lesser' teams like Austria and Switzerland have been so good this tournament and why talented teams like England can't do shit. They're not good enough as individuals. It's insane the number of goals English players scored at their clubs but struggle to do anything here. Foden the MVP from the EPL looks worse than Krasic without Pep.

Hoping they meet Netherlands as well. For that to happen, we need both Turkey and Portugal to either win or draw against their opponents.

Theres a similar feeling to euro 2020 where they had an easy run to the finals. I reckon they'll probably end up with slovakia in next round and then Switzerland and Romania on route to the final.

Germany, Spain, Portugal and France all on the other side of the bracket. We're going to see some great knockout games.

Why can't Southgate deploy Bellingham next to Rice, play Foden centrally and put Gordon on as a runner next to Kane?

he surely plays in a non functional team and you can argue that he doesn't get too much support. fair enough

completely individual stats like duels, tackles or possession lost though, still piss poor. i don't think he lacks quality. lack of experience? season too long?

Proof that give a great player a poor coach and he will ruin you. Happened with Chiesa and is happening with Bellingham.

Not starting Palmer after the season he’s had shows you how useless Southgate is. He gave England a decent run over the last few tournaments but is clearly out of his depth now. Now sure he even knows how to get the best out of England’s new young generation.

Well there goes my group stage multi bet.

I can't believe France dropped points against Poland. Poland have been absolute shit all tournament and they were already eliminated and had nothing to play for. France knew that 2nd place in Group D would place them on the lopsided side of the draw with Germany, Spain, and Portugal.

I think Deschamps is way too dependant on Mbappe. They appear to missing some creativity going forward. Griezmann is being asked to carry this whole team:

1. In Pogba's absence, provide the creativity and play between the lines. Rabiot won't give you this.

2. Track back and defend when Mbappe is on the pitch.

3. Score goals when Mbappe is injured or doesn't show up

I know France are usually very pragmatic and bore teams to death but I wonder if it's time to hit the panic button.
