Nah they never show up. Remember all the times we expected SMS to do it on the big stage and he disappeared? That's Serbia I'm a nutshell

Actually I recon croatia will do better than Italy, they're a team that have been together a long time. Where as I look at the Italy squad and I just seen a random mish mash of players who can't even play as a team

What are the odds on Italy not to qualify from the group? I'd put money on that if anything.
Both italy and croatia are garbage in my eyes honestly lol

besides winning 958349 penalty shootouts what has croatia accomplished with their golden generation besides
getting thrashed in the final vs france
thrashed in the semis vs argentina
2014 group stage exit
2012 euro group stage exit
2016 euro r16 exit
2020 euro thrashing in the r16

Yeah but its a country which has a population less than the city of London, thats still achieved more than anything England has in 60 odd years

that’s why I think Albania has a chance to make it past the group stages

They have players that have been lethal from deep, which is a great asset in competitions like these.

Croatia still stands out for me when I see them in the group. However I’m still thinking about early 2010’s Croatia and my not be the Croatia we remember anymore. Still fingers crossed for the Azurri to advance.

Croatia has 3.85m population. How many other countries with less than 5m population can you name that have made a least one World Cup semi-finals in the past 100 years?

I can think of only 2 - Croatia and Uruguay and both have had absolutely wild success in the tournament proportionate to their size, repeatedly getting medals.

Making it to a World Cup final is a feat in itself though.

If you're a loser just happy to be there yea sure go crazy

When we lost to Germany in 2014 (damn I was 16 back then lol) I was not interested in just participating in the final lol

Martinez is a serious problem for Portugal.

But the talent is there and they probably have a more competitive edge than Belgium. That's what winning a previous tournament does for you. I can see Portugal go far despite Martinez and I expect Ronaldo to do well, if only to spite everyone who makes fun of him for playing in Saudi Arabia.

Yeah, he can allow a good team to flow without interfering with them. But when the team faces a real challenge and requires a coach to tactically adjust their way out of a jam, he's completely useless.

Ronaldo still has a fire though, as you might expect. Despite being fed figs and Bulgattis in Saudi Arabia, and keeping his girlfriend's mouth shut before she's beheaded, it's clear that he still sees playing again on a European stage as his path towards the legitimacy he always craves.

I am super bad at predictions so all I wish for is for new young talents to shine.
No Sverige no party.
I'm with you there. For decades I've hated when Cup promos massbate over potential golden boot winners and ads try to anoint the "must watch" players of the tournament. It's best when someone new or young to all the voracious media overcoverage gets to shine and put the veterans to shame.

Italy repeating the win is one of the most unlikely scenarios there could possibly be, just because it would be 2 in a row. I wouldn't count them out, but semis at max. Ukraine will most likely be the dark horse as they have good team on the paper atleast. England will massively flop is what im feeling at the moment. Spain could not make it out of group stage but could also win the whole thing. People calling Belgium "golden generation" a flop meanwhile forgetting how hard it is to win an internation trophy while not having many tournaments to try. They got strong team again, so can't completely count them out either. Germany i somehow feel like they lack something, but they're of course one of the favourites. France and Portugal is something i fancy being the final.

I'd still say Portugal will win. Portugal on paper they got so much talent. Most of this generation was prob watching Ronaldo to play on EURO 2004 and were inspired his earlier years while kicking the ball on the streets. Now he is captaining all them towards the glory that is in front of them. I haven't seen any Ronaldo's games for 1.5 years but i watched the goals he scored against Ireland few days ago and nothing but top, top quality goals. The first one especially insane. He has nose for those empty spaces like never before. Feels like he's getting better at some of the areas of his game while declining on the natural things. It's insane how he's still that good. It's fucking 39 for fuck sakes. He might go down as the athlete of lifetime and the fire in his eyes is still nothing short of what he had in the past. Might be the last time we seen him on the international stage or not, but im sure to cherish everything.

France been on too many finals is concerning as well. They will have a flop of a tournament at some point. They have great path to the final but can't see them losing before it unless it's against some underdog team on penalties or something. They had that game against Switzerland on EURO2020 but bottled it big time after leading 3-1 on the 75th minute or something. Other than that, they've always been on the final of all these International tournaments since 2018, while losing 2/3 of course.

Actually, because there's no Sverige there'll be a party - you Mofos are arguably the most boring team from that block, perhaps Finland aside :p

Norway and even Iceland are more exciting to watch. Denmark are by far the best team in the Nordic region.

    Come at me Bro :b81:

If I had to put a value bet on anyone winning this tournament I think there's value on Portugal, they're on the other side of the england/France draw so they've got an easier route to the final. I also think there's value on Ronaldo winning the goldenboot. But I feel this talented portugal team is somewhat overlooked.

They're overlooked because they're not likeable.

Bruno Fernandes, a 39 year old Ronaldo, a 41 year old Pepe, Martinez as a manager...

I agree, it's actually a good team. But it doesn't look enticing.

Martinez is always going to be questionable since he has never won a thing, do think they'll go far at the very least if not win it. There's some really exciting players in that Portuguese squad.
