Wasnt a penalty imo I think most people will be happy that it wasn't given.
What? That’s 9/10 always a pk for handball, the only time it’s not is because there is maybe no VAR where it happens, usually seen pk’s given for even less.

Game could’ve gone both ways, Germany with the bigger chances though.

As long as England go out tomorrow I can’t be bothered much about who’s winning this.

Finally over, Spain overall deserved to advance but this game will always be hindered by that blatant refereeing mistake that could have seen Germany get a pk to finish the game off.
I definitely think Germany had the better clear cut chances, not to say Spain didn’t have any, but the Germans certainly more.

I'm not completely familiar with the rules, but to me that wasn't a penalty. He wasn't making his body bigger, in fact, it was quite the opposite. There was neither intention to stop the ball, nor carelessness. His intention was to pull his hand closer to his body. Ironically, that's exactly why the ball hit his hand. If his hand had been further away from his body, there wouldn't have been a handball.

I’m actually glad Spain advanced, they are more likable, but the germans will sure be fuming through all channels about that handball decision.

Taylor and the VAR guy should have taken into account that the shot could have been a goal if it wasn't for the handball.
10/10 penalty if you are a competent referee.
0/10 if you are a ref from England that where they make at least 2 blatant erorrs/game.

The hand was half a meter away in the air from his body when it was hit by the ball while also in the direction of the shot to goal, taking no deflection, no ricochet from his leg, not very close proximity either, by the current rules that’s a textbook PK for handball.

How can you say that with a straight face.
He literally stopped a ball that was going 15 - 20 cm lateral from his body with his hand.
If that isn't making your body bigger I don't know what is.
It would have been probably a shot on goal also.

Hmmm, I might remember it incorrectly. His hand was half a meter away from his body before the shot, but much much closer to the body when it was hit.
It did stop a clear goal though.

Hand was down by his side and moving away from the direction of the ball which was his also need very hard with a lot of speed. He had about a millisecond to react.

Not a penalty for me.

Arm by his side, his silhouette isn't bigger, his arms are a bit behind him (which is apparently something that has been brought in recently as protection for the defender), shot from close range with power all reasons why.

I genuinely do not understand why VAR did not at least call Taylor up to see it himself, only time i’ve seen such a clear handball being waived off like that was when it took a ricochet or was hit straight in the hand from centimeters away, those are literally the only exceptions.

I can see why Germany are frustrated, those are given a lot, but i can also see the argument as to why it shouldn't be a pk would be nice if rules could be more evenly applied
