Training match for Switzerland. Good, they should be well rested for England.
Others already mentioned it, but this is the worst Italy I've seen in quite some time. I don't remember them being this awful when they were eliminated in the group stage in 2010 and 2014. Not even when they were eliminated by Sweden and Macedonia for the last World Cups.

Expected it to be a tough challenge against the Swiss but kind of wanted to believe that Italy will find a way to advance somehow, either way i sure didn’t expect them to be outplayed in such a manner, although seeing all of ElShaarawy, Darmian and Cristante in the starting XI was a very obvious red flag to begin with….

Spaletti gave the impression of being totally out of his depth in this tournament.

i don't think that any player played true to their abilities. besides donnarumma, that is. what a title defense :baus:

kudos to the swiss though. very solid team. now i feel a bit less bad about the hungary switzerland game. we showed much more than the italians
You play as well as opponents allows you and swiss today were quicker, more agressive, had better ideas in final 3rd and never looked troubled at the back. This entire tournament Italians played bad but it is a reflection of the overall quality of their roster. I like seeing underdogs making an upset but today Italy was an underdog

This squad is obviously flawed no doubt, but he is probably the least of their worries(number aside) when guys like ElShaarawy and Darmian are not only still selected for the NT in 2024 but are even picked to start in a knockout game at the Euro’s… they had better options to choose from let’s be honest but Spaletti wanted to be clever about it and it ended up backfiring.

Maybe Zaccagni could have started or Cambiasso but I dont think the outcome would have been different. I dont see a difference between Rategui and Scamacca, both are equally useless players. Jorginho was dreadful so far so him or Fagioli getting a nod, seems like the same shit. They dont have quality options. Current team is levels bellow Euro winning one. Mancini is also a better coach than Spaletti.

Yeah you’re probably right.

This is somehow worse than 2010. And that included 1-1 draw against New Zealand and that 3-2 loss against Slovakia.

But at least in those horrible results and performances, Italy at least tried and actually attempted shots on goal. What we’ve witnessed from them all tournament was something I’ve never seen from them before…complete lack of game plan, desire, fight and hunger (to go along with the lack of quality)

Zero grinta. No fight, no urgency, no ideas, no skill, nothing. Most importantly no leaders on the pitch.

We looked like a bunch of fucking wankers.

How the fuck can you lose a knockout game without spitting blood and giving it your all? Switzerland probably can't believe how easy Italy rolled over.

It's like these cunts wanted to lose. A fucking shambles.

Spalletti please resign and FUCK OFF. Max would've at least ripped his jacket off and showed some passion.
