Easily the most ridiculous one.

Neither goalkeeper had a lot to do and Donnarumma won the penalty shoot out. If you'd say that Rashford missed, rather than had his penalty saved, they'd still need to be at least tied.

Can anyone explain how a bunch of "average" & "mediocre" Italians won this thing? I mean, reading the forum over the past few years has led me to believe there weren't any good Italian players out there. Definitely not good enough for Juve, at least.
And now this. I am confused

Somehow Spain has no players there. I’d have chosen Pedri for Pogba.

If there was ever an example of a “group better than sum of its parts” that was it. Even Bernardeschi played an important part.

Agree about Pedri.
Also, Italy does have many class players- Chiellini, Bonucci, Chiesa, Barella, Verratti, Donnarumma to name a few. Jorginho, Spinazzola and Locatelli are very good too.

Either their opponents were below average or they stepped up when needed. Take your pick.

These best 11 lineups are bound to leave out some good performers, but yeah I’d put Jorginho over Xhaka too. Spinazzola would be there had he stayed fit.

Immobile, belotti, insigne, berardi, di lorenzo, emerson, what do they have in common?

Basically Italy made it due to its midfield, Chiesa and ESPECIALLY Mancini. Jorginho, Barella and Locatelli were great, Verratti had one good game against Wales and then was subpar. Chiesa was amazing tho.

This was a collective effort, hats off to Mancini

No mention of that wall of a defence in Giorgio, Bonu and Donnaruma? I think they were the main reason Italy won.

There were a lot of players who did well at one point or another - Donnarumma, Bonucci, Chiellini, Spinazzola, Verratti, Locatelli, Barella, Jorginho, Chiesa and Insigne. Some faded and others improved, but any of those players could play for Juve. There would also be worse options than having Di Lorenzo or Emerson as squad options. Can't lie, I hate Immobile but he does a job, maybe more of a niche player who wouldn't make our team.

It's collective delusion and they still reply with the same things.

"Most are mediocre"

Euro champions as the clear best team of the tournament.

13 goals scored and only 4 conceded.

34 matches unbeaten, the record for Italy and iirc tied for most in the world.

Yet still the narrative of average players.

It's a fair question. Yes, football is a team sport... look at Denmark. But at the beginning of the tournament to as well as now, I look at the Italy squad top to bottom and think, "Seriously? You expect me to believe this is the best Italian side in a Euro in 53 years?"

Yes, competition differs and the years differ. But Italy 2021 is a completely overachieving side, IMO. Especially compared to past Italy NTs. Or hell, even compared to France 2021.

Agree about Pedri.

Yeah, Pedri. Unlike Pogba, his Jogba laziness didn't cost him his team's place to advance.
