England: Hart; Johnson, Terry, Lescott, Cole; Milner, Gerrard, Parker, Young; Rooney, Welbeck

Italy: Buffon; Abate, Barzagli, Bonucci, Balzaretti; Pirlo; Marchisio, Montolivo, De Rossi; Balotelli, Cassano

Milner will be playing defensively mostly!

Not sure Blanc's decision made much difference, even if it wasn't a good call.

France have been so pathetically timid throughout that they were never likely to threaten Spain very much.

France are so lacking in aggression and incisiveness that they aren't going to trouble any decent defence.
I agree that France has been poor throughout the tournament, barring the Ukraine game. I also agree that Spain was probably always going to win, still I am annoyed at the fact that Spain shot themselves in the foot with their poor team selection and questionable tactics, and France did nothing to try and punish them for that. If France tried counterattacking Spain, and playing a high line and a high pressure game in midfield, they could have at least troubled Spain. Instead of the Spanish being so static in the final third, yet still did not have to worry about being counter attacked or pressured high up the pitch.

Xavi, Iniesta, Silva and co are great on the ball, but you can easily notice how even these super players were uncomforable whenever coming close to the final third because they had no movement around them, and no off the ball movement or options to pass to (other than the fullbacks :shifty:). The least you can do, is try and trouble them. But Blanc was a pussy!

Thats a good balanced team the English are playing. Definitely lacking in imagination or individual ability. But full of hard workers, players that will cover a lot of ground and that are disciplined tactically. This will not be a walk in the park for the Italians. That being said, there is no doubt that the Italians have the better, more technical individuals, so its their game to lose really.
