the main problem for italy was in the midfield. none of 4 played good. actually italian midfielfders pirlo gatuzo perota played very badly. and these players were fundamental in italy's worldcup trumph. and believe me, i've never seen lithuania so dangerous in the atack. the famous italian defence (maybe because without any juve players :D ) in the first half looked like a big asshole :D. yes, you can say that lithuanian attacks were very rare, accidental or so on. but as compared to all lithuanian football from 1990, this match maybe was the best in attacking terms. who we are in football - shit! we are in some 100 place in ratings amongst kambodza, birma, arctic - countries that maybe don't know what football is.
as for the game against france, i would like to believe that a match against lithuania, would benefit for italians in giving the right attitude for the game. forza lietuva, forza italia !!!

in 1982 after italy took the world cup they could not qualify to euro 1984 , it seems the same will happen this year , i will not be surprised if france won 3-0 next wednesday

cant believe donadoni is getting so much shit. oh yeah, half of you didnt even see the math because apparently cassano also doesnt deserve to be in the team. how about blaming pirlo who was invisible in this match and clearly not fit yet?
Pirlo was invisible right and not fit but who played him and kept him on the field, but Donadoni's system was wrong. Especially the midfield.
Cassano was MOM, he did everything and deserves to be there.

so whats the point of bashi donadoni who left toni, totti and del piero at home, when they arent fit as well? as for cassano, i know, he was the best by far, yet it seems otherwise reading this thread, where people bash dodi for calling him up in the first place. silly little men...

toni doesnt need to b fit to play well, he never scores for italy, but we needed a guy with his stature
totti is a monster, even wen 75% fit, hes better than alot of players out there
del piero, weve seen the last few matches he played, no need to write more

cassano will be back to his best in a month's time imo.

he left totti becuz totti didnt want to play, and i dont know wats his situation with Alex yet. But am critisizing him becuz of the system he used. The wings were not used at all cuz the players in the midfield are not wingers.

im sorry, you've seen highlighs, not matches... totti himself said he isnt fit yet and its not even clear whether hell play for italia. the problem wasnt the attack, it was the midfield, and that was not fit world cup winning midfield. had the likes of barone played, we might have caused an even bigger upset.

Donadoni's the right man for the job as far as I'm concerned. He's got the right attitude. And the correct approach to every game. Not only is he attacking, he's doing a good job of giving the untried but capable players a shot. After being World Champions, there's only one way to go and that is keep the hunger alive. Donadoni understands that. I dont think there's a better man to be coaching Italy at the moment. 1 official qualifier cannot be a yardstick fair enough to judge what Roberto is or could be capable of.

Those guys were all out of form except for Del Piero. It makes perfect sense that he played Cassano and Inzaghi because Cassano is as much of a support striker as Del Piero and Inzaghi is a supreme finisher. If he played Toni (lack of form) or Camoranesi (who has the poorest attitude), they probably would've done worse.
They don't have to be on top form...

Their mere influence on the team is enough importance for atleast one of them to be in there. I mean if you look over your shoulder and see Del Piero or Totti you'd have a lot more confidence than if you saw Di Michele. :lol2:

No offence to Lithuania but its not just little teams the side Donadoni picked will be playing either, got France away tonight.
