im just soo pissed off with Trap for taking Dp off in the 64th minute. hes low on confidence, all he needs is to play himself in a little bit and he'll be fine. Taking him off for cassano was not right at that point of time maybe a little later. Cassano dint impress me either. And im really happy with this result. Finally the swagger and arrrogance can be shoved up. And they'll realise they have to earn their place in the next phase. All in all, superb defending. Brilliant keeping by Gigi and a special mention for camo, i think he was the only 1 i saw running up and down the whole time he was on. Overall, the danes were brilliant thru 90. But its a good result for Italy coz theyre still very much in it, and now they can get their heads down to earth and play to their abilities.

I'm not surprised, this is exactly like watching Italy. I did think they would at least produce some goal scoring chances but even that was too much to ask. The last time I saw them play well was under Zoff 4 years ago. Meanwhile the threat of conceding wasn't all that big either, Italy is so used to being under pressure and the defence was excellent today. Canna played his heart out and Buffon was top class.

Positives: the defence is back in function, they proved it once again today that they can swing with the best. Zambrotta was really good, Panucci was his usual half suspicious self but he's not that much of a threat.

Negatives: everything else. No imagination, no precision, no nothing. WTF have they been doing the past 2 weeks when none of the players can even control the ball properly? The midfield was utterly disfunctional, no connection between Zanetti-Perrotta and the offensive players. Lots of clearances, lots of long balls up field, none of them precise and it was like watching a team that know they're far too bad to be playing at all, but still hanging on for life. That's how the offence performed today. Totti did jack shit, Del Piero was his usual anonymous self and Camo wasted a ton of balls. Vieri tried but he's not in shape and he misses way too many chances. Playing like they did today, Italy have won lots of times. But it takes Vieri to bail them out and today he was just as bad as everyone else.

Btw Totti showed what a dumbass he is making that vicious tackle on Laursen in the dying minutes of the game. How he wasn't sent off for that I will never know but the red card was crystal clear.

As for Del Piero, I can't be bothered wasting too much space on him. He's unfit, doesn't have his instincts and there is no good reason why he should start at all. How bizzarre that he's been left out whenever he seemed to be doing well and now suddenly he's starting despite not being any good at all. Good call Trap for putting on Cassano.

In short, everything Vinman has been telling us came true today.

True, but Cassano did nothing either, he didnt have 1 succesfull pass, and was rewardet with a card by his foolishness.

Yeah but so what? After what Del Piero did, Cassano deserved a chance. And at least he showed a lot more fire and willingness for the game than DP. The yellow card was stupid though.

Buffon played very good, and did well at some chances.
Panucci was not at his best. Never really went forward, and didn't help Camoranesi. I would put Oddo there.
Nesta was very good, same goes to Cannavaro, who was a bit tired and not so fresh as usual.
Zambrotta did well too, but nearly no offensive work. Expected to see more from him.
The midfield Perrotta and Zanetti was awfull. Lost nearly every battle in midfield and were far too slow. Totti didn't get any ball or protection he needed. Trap should play Pirlo and Gattuso there, as Perrotta and Zanetti were very weak.
Camoranesi??? Where was he? Never on the right flank and to be honest: The only time he caught my eye, was at the begining, when I saw his new haircut.
Totti tried hard, but simply didn't get any support from Zanetti ir Perrotta. Had a nice free-kick, but he will have to do more, if he wants to become THE Euro star.
Del Piero? I have to tell you, that I liked his play, and he was many times better than Cassano. Had some good chances and played clever. Got tired at the end, but I am sure Trap will field him again. I honestly think he was one of Italy's best, if there was any good performance.
Vieri was very lazy and had a good chance. I would have subed Cassano for Vieri, as he didn't move very well.

All the sub players didn't bring any new ideas with them.

Facit: They will have to get better, otherwise I see Italy out of the Euro.

P.S.: Congrats to the Dans. Didn't expect such a strong and clever match from them.
