I was at the Sweden-Serbia match in Malmö. It was really entertaining, I didn't expect Sweden to do this well quite honest. Their U-21 team looks far more promising than the main national team.

I just wish I had a ticket to the finals, they got outsold really fast heh.

I just saw the goal Italy conceded. Criscito got skinned!
I haven't watched the HL yet. But I remember Criscito was on the left corner marking a Belarus player, nothing to do with him.

Someone said he was poor in attacking? I think he did ok. He didn't cross and slowed down sometimes but overall he was efficient (quite a few opportunities came directly and indirectly from him). For me, he played intelligentely and I've watched other Genoa's games to know that he can cross with both feet. And if all full-backs have to run down the flank with the ball by himself alone and then cross, then Maldini was a very bad full-back because he had a similar style to Criscito.

nowadays you do expect a bit more than just shut down the left side from a left back. maldini was great and all, but in his prime a full back did not really need to be a good dribbler or crosser. maldini had his focus more on the defensive side of the game and made his name by canceling out famous wingers and not by rampaging on the left wing making great crosses. and yes, in this he resembles de ceglie and criscito for not being that eager to break down defenses from the wing to play the ball behind the defense

In the attacking field, he's decent, not spetacular. He plays intelligently, IMO. I just think he is more balanced than Molinaro and De Ceglie. Obviously there are better full-backs than him but it's not like you can find someone young who is spetacular in attacking and can still defend well that easily. Anyway personally I'd like to keep him as a squad player alongside with another left-back who has better attacking ability.

De Ceglie does have the ability to break down the defense (if he plays as a fullback, not winger) when he has space to run. He has excellent athlete ability. De Ceglie's problem is when attacking he runs with the head down without observation and plays rather monotonously. Maybe with a good coach he can improve (both offensively and defensively).

By this, I didn't mean a modern full-back is all about defending. But there are other ways to offer to the attack than just runn down the flank to break the defense all by yourself and cross (Criscito made some good passes which resulted in good opportunities. He also ran into the box several times but sadly the teammate didn't deliver back to him). And you can also create space to cross by passing the ball around, not just by breaking the defense alone with your speed (even some wingers can't do that).

i agree that we should keep him (ownership-wise). i am just against any plan that sees him as our new left back. when we recall him, we should use him as CB. as left back he is not a good enough upgrade to molinaro (when you watch the overall characteristics)

with space and when used by the midfielders he has the ability to deliver good crosses, but as soon someone does shut him down he has no clue how to get past that player to deliver an equally good cross...

i don't think ciro will be the one who can tell him how to advance his attacking game, but the attacking was never juves problem, so when he does get better defensively it would leap his overall quality very much

That guy was ridiculous. He was a one man cheering section. The stadium being empty just magnified his megaphone. He was my MOM.

Any news on if DC will be back for the semi's?

I wish, it's sold out. I tried so hard to get tickets.

My last shot is tomorrow and Friday to sniff some invitation tickets roaming around.
