Italy has already did better co-eff wise, this season than in the whole of the last 2 seasons.

Still way behind Germany though, who are very nearly catching England at this rate

Germany or England needs to do what Italy did, and have 3 or 4 really bad years, and Italy needs to have a few good years to even get close, but that won't happen until the EL has more monetary reward

Is there more money to be earned qualifying and playing the group stages of the Champions League then there is even going the whole way in the Europa?

If you win the EL you get about 8m euros, and thats playing about 347 games to get to the final.

If you play 6 CL group stage games you pocket around 12m euros IIRC (and that's if you lost every single game).

Therein lies the problem, the provincial clubs like Napoli, Lazio and Udinese are in it for the profit as opposed to the honour. Is it any wonder there are less spectators at matches these days when the likes of Napoli couldn't give two shits about a home tie to a Czech club and then even manage to be humiliated :sergio:

I swear if I was a Napoli fan........

well I probably wouldn't have internet access, and I'd live in a sewer.

Naples is a horrible city, I spent one day in it with my girl (we were going to Pompeii), the city is a proper dump, you could just feel the locals eyeing you up and could feel the hostility. We couldn't wait to get on the train and back to Rome.
