Is that a title anyone even wants? Sure, winning the EL is better than nothing, but to hold "both major Euro club trophies at the same time" means you had to have messed up a bit (especially when the EL trophy is the latter won). It's not a title that depicts dominance of club football.

It just means you were damn good last year, and now you're not too shabby.

Damn, that Benfica curse story is some scary shit. 7 finals since and all lost :scared:

So why are some media outlets calling Chelsea the "first club to hold Europe's two major club trophies at the same time" when Porto won the Euro Cup in '03 and the CL in '04?
Just Chelsea pullling a Milan :seven:

unbelievable this plastic club now has the same glory as Juve, bayern and ajax :sergio:
Maybe Bayern and Chelsea will play in UEFA Super Cup in August, none of them have that trophy.
Juve truly has them all, and the first one to have them all.

Rafa an underrated coach
He has been overrated for a long time and I'm glad people have realised it since his Liverpool days.
Exactly. Most overrated donkey of a manager there is, horrible man manager, questionable tactics and his stupid rotation policy. Big deal, he got Chelsea to win some Mickey Mouse trophy that barely anyone cares about anymore (beating such powerhouses as Steaua Bucharest and Basel) along the way.

Steaua are actually quite a European giant, they won the European Cup in 1986 beating Barcelona in Spain on penalties and then made it to the final in 1989 losing 4-0 to Sacchi's Milan. They had players like Hagi, Lacatus etc. I reckon Steauea are a European giant no less than Ajax, Bayern, Juve etc., because it's a lot harder to win the Champions League if you are from Eastern Europe.Red Star Belgrade also had an amazing team in the early 90s, even Jugovic who was part of it, helped us win the Champions League in 1996 by scoring the winning penalty. ;)

Yes, because now it is impossible for a team that isn't rich to go far in the competition, let alone win it. IMO the Champions League should be opened only to the champions of every European nation like it was in the 90s and have a restriction on the number of foreigners you can field. Now it is really easy for a rich club like Bayern to buy all the players they need and thus make a strong team artificially that few clubs can compete with. Look what happened in our match againt Bayern or in the semis. IMO this is not a Champions League , it is a Commercial League instead. Also, why should a team like Milan be given the right to participate every year when they finish 20 points behind the Italian champion ? Do you remember how they won the cup in 2003 and 2007 ? They didnt have the best team, just a lot of luck and also could rest their players ahead of every match because they were not fighting for anything in Italy. We really deserved the CL in 2003. ;)

Because when Porto won the CL in '04, the UEFA Cup final of that year had already been played and won by someone else, so they weren't holding both trophies at the same time.

In some case you are right, but your idea with bayern as a rich club is wrong, they definitely have a purchasing power, your phrase with " make a strong team artificially" is not right, its not a club like chelsea or manchester city, we had no sugar daddys, everything was ownmade with good management over many decades and now we earn the result. Btw do you think juventus isn't a rich club? and what about real, barca, manchester united...

And yes in 2003 you really deserved the title, but as I said there is no guarantee in football, we also deserved the CL title last year against chelsea but shit happens, and I'm sure Juventus in 2003 with Nedved would have won ;)
