Terrible game by Barca, but a worse game by the ref. He made mistakes that affected both sides, as most of Chelsea's players should have got a yellow but didn't, or got it too late, add to that the non existent red card for Abidal. But his worst decisions affected Chelsea, two clear cut penalties weren't awarded to them.
I ain't feeling sorry for them(Chelsea) at all though, fuck them, their players were diving all over the place, for a minute i thought they were a Spanish team there, plus it serve's them right for the boring football they played.
Now, bias aside. Chelsea were the better team, and they did deserve to win the game and they did deserve to go through. Overall Hiddink did a very good job tacitcally, he knew there was no way he could rival Barca for possession, so he let them have it, but made his players close Barca's midfielders down and not give them any space or time on the ball. They came in with a gameplan and they exectued it. But i thought Hiddink made a terrible mistake when he didnt attack the weakened Barca defense after they were a man down, he was a bit too conservative, and i'm sure if he kept Drogba on the pitch and attacked Barca, he would have scored another goal or two.
Barca just didn't find any solutions, not because there team is poor, but because they don't have a great manager. Pep was clueless today, he didn't know what to do, and he wasn't flexible enough tactically. He holds on to this 4-3-3 as if it were scripture. Imo he should add a little more variety to Barca's game and try a different tactical setup from time to time.
In all fairness though, over the whole tournament, Barca were the better team. So its not like them being in the final is completely undeserved.
